Strictly fans baffled over judges' comments to Nigel Harman and Katya Jones

Strictly Come Dancing returned on Saturday night for the series' iconic Movie Week – but some fans were left baffled over on judge's comment to Nigel Harman and Katya Jones after their performance

The feedback caused a stir on social media, with many viewers suggesting actor Nigel and his partner, Katya Jones, were scored too highly by three of the four judges. The pair donned Batman and Robin costumes as they performed a jive, which head judge Shirley described as a "lovely performance".

Anton duly agreed, stating it was a "tremendous performance" before quipping he would have loved to have had the opportunity to wear his "pants over his tights." But, after further praise from Motsi, Craig offered a different opinion unsurprisingly somewhat, declaring that he thought the high-energy superhero routine was "flat".

Many fans took to X (formerly Twitter) shortly afterwards stating that they agreed with Craig, however, with some questioning if Motsi, Shirley and Anton had been watching "another performance". One commented: "The judges are being over generous. He was very untidy. #StrictlyComeDancing."

Another agreed: "A bit stompy and clumpy by @NigelHarmanUK this week. Last week was far better. Not bad though #StrictlyComeDancing." A third added: "Thought that jive was dull #StrictlyComeDancing." And a fourth pondered: "#StrictlyComeDancing were we watching the same dance as the judges?"

Strictly fans baffled over judges' comments to Nigel Harman and Katya JonesNigel and Katya's 25 landed them 11th place (of 14) on the Strictly leaderboard (PA)

Nigel and Katya scored a respectable 25, but fell someway short of Angela Scanlon and Carlos Gu's impressive 35 for for their Charleston interpretation of Who's Got The Pain? from Damn Yankees. They were closely followed by Eddie Kadi and Karen Hauer, who were awarded 34 for their Men In Black street dance.

At the other end of the leaderboard, meanwhile, Jody Cundy and Jowita Przystal scored a paltry 20 for their American smooth dance to the song, Married Life, from Disney's Up.

Strictly Come Dancing will return on BBC One for the results show on Sunday, October 8.
