Statisticians have looked at the data and announced the ten top cities in America to live in for working parents.

For parents, the demands of most jobs tend to interfere with family matters, and vice versa. So, scientists looked at the most important criteria - flexibility with remote work. This allows for minimized commutes and overall more time spent at home.

They also looked at education availability, childcare costs, and health and environment. So, who made the top of the list? In the number one spot is Washington, D.C. It turns out the nation's capital has the best work/life balance as most of the city's jobs are remote or hybrid. They've also got an above-average education system.

In a very close second is D.C.'s neighbour - Arlington, V.A. To be fair, Arlington is home to America's biggest office building (formerly the world's biggest), which is the Pentagon. According to statistics, 80 per cent of jobs in the city are remote or hybrid.

The overall environment is quite healthy, with plenty of nature surrounding cities, making it even more enjoyable to spend those extra hours that people aren't commuting.

Third is Seattle, Washington. Another state with beautiful landscapes, great schools, and a strong remote work culture, it is top of the list for parents looking to balance life better. In Seattle, 21 per cent of the active population works remotely. Washington state is 13th in national education rankings, and Seattle has a high density of schools.

Another favourite of working families is San Fransisco, C.A. "While it scored high in the work department — due to its third-highest coworking space density of 1.4 spaces per square mile, an 18 per cent share of remote workers and 77 per cent share of workers in remote-eligible jobs— the Bay Area city also ranked seventh in the health and environment metrics.

Plus, San Francisco has one of the highest numbers of paediatricians per capita in the country (288 specialists per 100,000 children). It also has above-average air quality," says Coworking Cafe.

What's so beneficial about remote work? Not only do people spend less time on non-work activities, like getting ready, commuting, spending money on lunch and gas, etc., but they don't have to worry about looking 'less dedicated' when they have to take a day at home to take care of the family, especially for moms, who still carry the burden of most of the household responsibilities, on top of paid work and careers.
