Liverpool will be looking to bounce back from last weekend's controversial 2-1 defeat to Tottenham when they take on Brighton at the Amex Stadium.

Jurgen Klopp's side suffered their first loss of the new season after a Luis Diaz goal was wrongly disallowed due to a major VAR blunder. Klopp has called for the game to be replayed as a result of the error, but has now insisted they are "over it" and fully focused on their upcoming games.

And they will need to be at their best when they take on Brighton, who have scored more goals than any other Premier League side so far this season. The Seagulls have also beaten Liverpool in their last two meetings. Here is the latest news from Anfield.

Souness shares Klopp theory

Liverpool legend Graeme Souness believes Klopp's call for the Spurs game to be replayed is an attempt to turn the "injustice they feel to the team's advantage".

In his column for the Daily Mail, Souness said: "I did not agree with Jurgen Klopp coming out to say he wanted last weekend's game replayed. Where does that all end? Everyone will want the same when they feel aggrieved. It opens the door to a 12-month season.

"I think Jurgen probably knows full well that there's no possibility of it happening — but being granted a replay isn't the point of asking for one. He is now making the most of an opportunity to galvanise that group of players. Turning the injustice they feel to the team's advantage."

Ferdinand fires back after Neville dig

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has responded to Klopp after he cracked a joke about the Neville brothers.

Speaking after Liverpool's win over Union Saint-Gilloise in the Europa League, which saw Alex Mac Allister take on his brother Kevin, Klopp mistakenly said it was "the first time that two brothers played against each other in world football". When it was pointed out to him that the Neville brothers had actually faced each other after Phil left United to join Everton, Klopp joked: "Well nobody was interested in that obviously. Sorry, that was a penalty I had to take that!"

Ferdinand then responded to Klopp's comments on social media, writing: "Only 14 Premier League titles between the Neville households," along with the eyes emoji and a laughing face.

Klopp vows to "put things right"

Having lost their last two games against Brighton, Liverpool are keen to "put a few things right" against Roberto De Zerbi's side.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Klopp said: "If we play like we did last year, then we will get a massive knock again, but I think we will play better. That's the first step. I am really looking forward to it, and we have to put a few things right. We should not let it happen again. It can - because they are really good - but we will do a really big try to make sure it does not.

"We expect a really tough game against one of the best sides in the league. They are probably the best coached team in the league. You always see Brighton's football - it is incredible. They have had a lot of change and lost top players, one of whom we got, but still go on. They have had a few results that did not go exactly their way but that is completely normal."
