What time is Leigh Wood vs Josh Warrington? Start time for world title fight

Leigh Wood defends his featherweight world title against Josh Warrington tonight whilst women's super-welterweight world champion Terri Harper is also in action.

Wood is fighting for the third time this year after a thrilling two-fight encounter against Mauricio Lara in which he lost and reclaimed his belt. The world title clash could be Wood's last fights at 126lb as he admitted the featherweight limit gets more difficult to make every fight.

Warrington looks to return to winning ways after his shocking defeat to Luis Alberto Lopez last December. 'The Leeds Warrior' has taken a considerable amount of time away from the ring and is now relishing being the underdog in his comeback against Wood. So here's all you need to know about tonight's fights...

What time does Leigh Wood vs Josh Warrington start?

Wood vs Warrington takes place tonight at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield as the undercard action is set to get underway at 7pm. Harper will be defending her women's super-welterweight world title against Cecilia Braekhus around 9:30pm whilst ring walks for the main event will get underway just after 10:30pm.

Quotes corner

Warrington : “The fact that I’m not the favourite doesn’t bother me; it fuels me further. Leigh holds the championship title, and I appreciate this chance to fight him. What irks me is when people count me out, suggesting my time is done. Yet, I vividly recall my convincing win against Kiko Martinez within seven rounds and how I took control in the latter part of the Lopez fight. Some even praise Lopez’s performances post our fight.

Wood : “Josh has registered impressive victories, possibly even surpassing mine. He’s earned this fight purely based on his merits. I anticipate an electrifying ambience and perhaps the most memorable I’ve ever encountered. Especially during my entrance and with record ticket sales, the night promises to be unforgettable. I aspire to be recognised amongst the UK’s finest Featherweights and one of my city’s top-contender fighters."
