Shoppers around the country will have their final chance to visit a Wilko store on Sunday as the company shuts down its last remaining stores after more than 90 years of trading.

The company has been closing down all of its 400 stores around the country after it collapsed into administration two months ago. Going into this weekend, there are just 41 stores left open but each of these will close for the last time on Sunday, October 8.

You can see if your local Wilko store is among them using our interactive map, searchable by postcode. The map also shows which store sites have been taken over by Poundland.

Poundland has agreed to take on the leases of up to 71 sites, and the first ten rebranded shops reopened last month. Stores in Melton Mowbray, Matlock, Chepstow, Nottingham, Worcester, Ellesmere Port, Brigg, Redruth, Ferndown and Pontypool are to open this Saturday, October 7.

Poundland said that 200 former Wilko staff had been offered jobs in the rescued stores and more Wilko staff are expected to be taken as further stores reopen. Austin Cooke, managing director of Poundland, said: “I know from meeting our new colleagues from Wilko, how delighted they were to welcome customers old and new back to their store last weekend – and that’s inspiring us to keep the pace up and bring the amazing value we promise to more high streets this Saturday.”

B&M has agreed to buy up to 51 stores but the retailer has not announced which sites it has purchased, or if will give priority for jobs to ex-Wilko workers. The Range has agreed to buy the Wilko brand, website and intellectual property, which means it can now sell Wilko products within its own stores.

Wilko was founded by JK Wilkinson as Wilkinson - a hardware store in Leicester, in 1930. The last Wilko stores in Leicester both closed on Thursday, October 5.
