A flight attendant has said she hated every moment of her job and is happy she ultimately quit.

Kat Kamalani has unloaded about her time in the skies, telling her TikTok followers that making a living aboard commercial jets is not as glamorous as it may seem. The 33-year-old claimed that intense training the hierarchal system in place onboard were serious problems with the job.

The Utah mum went on to blame demanding passengers for ruining her time at 30,000 feet, claiming that she sees people at their most tired and miserable, and that passengers treat her like a waitress rather than someone there to ensure their safety.

"I hated being a flight attendant and this is why I quit. I was a flight attendant for six years and I was [working on] one of the biggest airlines that you could possibly imagine. I hated every second of it," Kat explained in a recent video.

"Number one, your whole life depends on seniority - and what I mean by that is, when you get hired, that's your seniority date and that dictates everything. It dictates what aircraft you're flying, what holidays you're flying, if you have weekends off, if you can hold certain dates off.

"Another big thing of why it's so important is when you travel. For my airline you can book for standby - meaning if there are empty seats on the airplane, you can get on based on your seniority. And I would say new is considered at least five years or less."

Kat went on to lambast the intense training flight attendants have to go through. "The next thing is the training is so intense. I had to do two months of training - it was six days a week, we did 15-hour days," she said.

"You take a million different types of tests and if you don't pass tests within 80 per cent of above, they kick you out of the program." As hard as it may be to jump through all of the required hoops, arguably the bigger issue is the people she came in contact with during her working day.

"People think flight attendants are there just to serve you drinks - and truly, we're there for your safety first. People are traveling when they are in the hardest times of their life. They are sleep deprived, they are traveling for an emergency or a funeral..," Kat continued.

"There's a lot of times people are at their lowest when traveling and who gets the brunt of it?" While passengers are often miserable and not exactly in the holiday spirit, often flight attendants aren't overjoyed about the trips they on.

"Everyone thinks when you're flying at the very beginning that you're flying to Honolulu and Paris - and that can be the case. But mostly you are flying to three destinations a day, having very short layovers and you're waking up super early and doing red eyes - it's just not fun," Kat continued.

On the flip side of things, the mum did admit that her job helped her see parts of the world she would may never otherwise have been able to visit. "At the time, me and my husband could not afford airplane tickets around the world and we got to visit everywhere in the world," she added.

"I am so grateful for that and I got to bring my parents along and my children along. When you're by yourself exploring the world on a layover, it's kind of sad. That's my opinion on why being a flight attendant is not as glorious as it seems."
