Liverpool managed to get themselves back on track in midweek following their disappointment against Tottenham.

The Reds overcame Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise at Anfield on Thursday evening - the goals coming from Ryan Gravenberch and Diogo Jota. Victory leaves Jurgen Klopp’s side top of their Europa League group with two wins out of two.

Attention will now turn to another test this weekend as Liverpool travel to the Amex Stadium to take on another side who were in Europa League action: Brighton. Take a look at all of the headlines coming out of Anfield ahead of the clash on the South Coast:

Jota sending off ‘incorrect’

The Premier League's Independent Key Match Incidents Panel have confirmed that Jota should not have been sent off during Liverpool’s controversial defeat to Tottenham. The Portuguese international was dismissed after two bookable offences.

According to reports, Jota’s tackle on Destiny Udogie that saw him eventually sent off was not worthy of being given a second yellow card from referee Simon Hooper. The panel report said that "the majority deemed the decision as incorrect as they felt it did not meet the threshold for a yellow card," with three members out of five voting against a booking.

Gravenberch reacts to debut strike

Gravenberch has hailed the “best goal” of his career after opening his account for Liverpool in Thursday’s victory over Union Saint-Gilloise. The Dutchman tapped home after a mistake from Anthony Moris.

Opening up on the goal, he said: "Yeah it was great. It feels super good, it was the best goal of my career so far I think! No, the easiest of my career."

Gravenberch was signed from German giants Bayern Munich on deadline day for a fee of £34m. The 21-year-old has made six appearances in all competitions for the Reds since then, and also has two assists to his name.

Caicedo failure revealed

While Liverpool managed to complete a deal for Gravenberch, one man that they didn’t manage to sign is Moises Caicedo. The midfielder instead moved to Chelsea and his agent has now revealed why he switched to Stamford Bridge.

"When Liverpool came and approached in that way, obviously Moises gets dizzy, I get dizzy myself," he told Futbol sin Cassette . "But Chelsea were by our side at all times asking us to go, they wanted an hour so that we could tell Brighton, so that they could match the offer and they gave them an hour and it ended in two days of negotiation."
