Josh Duhamel shares real reason for split from Fergie after 8 years of marriage
Josh Duhamel slammed Hollywood as he blamed the “L.A. lifestyle” for his shock split from ex-wife Fergie.
The Transformers star wed the Black Eyed Peas singer in 2009, and the couple welcomed their first child, son Axl, in 2013. Sadly, just four years later, they announced they had separated, and their divorce was finalised in 2019. The 50-year-old actor has gone on to marry new wife Audra Mari, and they’re expecting their first baby next year, and in a new interview, he lifted the lid on the reasons behind his and Fergie’s surprising divorce.
Discussing the split in a new episode of In Depth With Graham Bensinger, Josh blamed the celebrity culture and lifestyle of Hollywood as being one of the contributing factors to their separation, and admitted they grew apart as he was never comfortable being in the spotlight. “I think we kind of outgrew each other and had very different interests,” he explained, as he revealed he wanted to move to out of Hollywood but Fergie did not. “The older I got, the more I wanted to come out (to North Dakota). This is not for her. But I’ve got no hard feelings…I’m very lucky that she’s a kind human. I really am.”

It was a lot. I just missed the simplicity of who I really am, you know?” he confessed. “I’m just not a guy who is comfortable going to red carpets. Doing all the Hollywood stuff. Hollywood and L.A. and that whole lifestyle can suck the soul out of you if you’re not careful. It just took me a long time to really feel like I belong, like I fit in.”

Josh was grateful to have a really close relationship with his ex-wife, and he said he had no regrets about their relationship, or their eventual break-up. “I made peace with that part of my life. She and I have a great relationship. Both raising that boy together. There wasn’t anything wrong with it. We had a great time,” the Shotgun Wedding star shared.
Josh and Audra got engaged last year, and tied the knot a few months later (Josh Duhamel/Instagram)He credited his wife Audra, who he wed last year, with helping him fall back in love with the outdoors, as they’re both from North Dakota. “That’s why Audra's so great for me. We’re both hardcore North Dakotans…We both love lake life. We both love family. We both love kids,” he gushed. Josh and Audra first began dating in 2019, and in January last year, the actor popped the question on her birthday using a message on a bottle that had washed up on shore. And later that same year, he and Audra tied the knot in Fargo, North Dakota, in a rooftop ceremony in front of family and friends.
Last month, the newlyweds announced they were expecting their first child, and in a touching display of support, Fergie commented on Audra’s post revealing the exciting baby news. “I am truly happy for you guys,” she wrote. Josh later discussed his relationship with his ex-wife, and said Fergie and Audra have a great friendship. “Fergie is an amazing woman. She really is. And she’s taken Audra in, you know, and it could be much worse,” he quipped on during an appearance on The Jess Cagle Show.
