Helen Flanagan's cryptic message about Scott Sinclair one year on from split

Former Coronation Street star Helen Flanagan has seemingly taken aim at her ex Scott Sinclair as she posted a cryptic message alluding to her relationship with the Bristol Rovers footballer a year after their split.

The 33-year-old mum-of-three took to her Instagram page to admit she is grateful she hasn't got an ex’s name tattooed on her body. Helen, who began dating Scott in 2009, when she was 19 said: "Whenever I’m having a bad day I just stop and remind myself at least I don’t have my ex’s name tattooed on my body.”

The actress and 34-year-old footballer called it quits in October 2022, after becoming engaged in May 2018. According to reports at the time, Helen was convinced she shouldn't go ahead with their wedding due to the snapping of her engagement ring, but Scott had tried to make their relationship work.

A source said: "Helen and Scott really tried to work on their relationship but ultimately she saw the ring breaking as a bad omen and one that meant she shouldn't get married." She has since opened up about their breakup and said: "We were broken up for like six months but it wasn't really a breakup because we weren't sleeping together anyway."

The ex-couple have since been co-parenting their children, after living separately. “Helen and Scott are committed to co-parenting their kids, even if they are no longer a couple" a source shared. Helen and Scott share children Matilda, Delilah and Charlie together.

In August, Helen Flanagan shared her thoughts about dating, marriage, and why she still wears her engagement ring. The soap actress revealed she wears it on her right hand, rather than on her wedding finger - as she had to wait so long for Scott to propose. Sharing video clips on Instagram Stories previously, Helen said: “I still wear my engagement ring and Nana’s wedding ring because I love it. I wear it on the other hand. It’s part of my journey - also it took him [Scott] bloody long enough to put it on my finger. Typical Scott!”

She explained further: “I remember being like ‘when is he going to propose?’ I remember I was an absolutely psycho about it. I was like ‘this is our 2nd child, where’s my ring?’ Honestly, so yes, I’m not taking it off my finger.”

Helen went on to say that she isn't ready for anything serious, although she has dipped her toes back into the dating scene. She said: "Now I think would I want to be in a full blown relationship with someone, talking about marriage? Absolutely not ready for that no. No, no, no! I’m really enjoying this time where I’m being able to be just myself."
