Heinz has announced the release of three new flavours of beans - and they might prove divisive amongst connoisseurs. The launch is set to coincide with National Curry Week, giving Brits a chance to spice up their beans on toast.

Of course, Heinz is no stranger to experimenting with new flavours. They already produce BBQ Beanz and Chilli Beanz, which have mixed reviews from bean lovers. But will the brand's latest idea hit the mark?

The new flavours are Tikka, Jalfrezi and Vindaloo. They will be available in Asda from October 5. Tikka is described as creamy and mild with warming spices, while the medium Jalfrezi is fragrant with punchy spices. Vindaloo, meanwhile, is hot and intense with 'thrilling chilli'.

Inspired by bean lovers already adding a dash of heat to their dishes, Alessandra de Dreuille, director of meals and insights for Heinz, said: "We think it's about time that two of the nation's favourite dishes, curry and Heinz Beanz, came together, and as soon as we heard that Brits were adding spice to their Beanz, we knew we were on to something!

"We've been hard at work perfecting these recipes that are guaranteed to tingle your taste buds. So, whether it's Jalfrezi Beanz on Toast, Tikka Beanz with a side of naan, or even Vindaloo Beanz for those that can handle the heat, our new Beanz Flavourz are sure to be the Beanz you don't know you love yet."

The new flavours are an ode to Britain's love of curry. In a survey of 2,000 British adults, almost half (49 per cent) said they eat Indian cuisine at least three times per month.

It's no surprise Heinz chose the Chicken Tikka Masala for one of the flavours either, with 29 per cent saying it's their favourite curry. The research also revealed 43 per cent eat baked beans at least once a week, so this really is a match made in heaven for many.

Earlier this year, Heinz announced another new combination - Heinz Tomato Ketchup Filled Hash Browns. Revealing the news, the company said: "Just when you thought hash browns couldn't get any better, Heinz are here to take your breakfast to the next level yet again, with a delicious take on a kitchen favourite that'll leave you wondering – am I team ketchup or team beans?"

While some fans were delighted by the mashup, others were sceptical about the idea of warm ketchup. One person on Twitter wrote: "I'm not sure about that one. I like to regulate my ketchup to hash brown ratio," to which Heinz's official account replied: "But we've done it for you." Another said: "Not sure about this - isn't it nicer to have the ketchup colder?", while a third added: "That's one way to ruin a hash brown."

When one of the Mirror's reporters tried the controversial hash browns, she said: "The ketchup didn't make the hash browns soggy or overpower the potato goodness. For me, the balance was perfect, and I enjoyed my lunch without any reservations.

"Some breakfast fans are puzzled by the concept, as they shared mixed views over the hot ketchup. But this didn't worry me in the slightest. I guess I was too focused on my delicious dish, which was on par with any other hash brown and ketchup meal I've tasted."
