Corrie's Sally Webster on what serial killer Stephen Reid is like in real life

Sally Dynevor has revealed what Todd Boyce, who plays Coronation Street serial killer Stephen Reid, is like in real life.

The 60-year-old, who has portrayed Weatherfield local Sally Webster since 1986, is the latest actor on the ITV soap to have her character's world rocked by the sadistic murderer.

It has now been revealed that next week's Monday episode will see her husband, Tim Metcalfe, left severely wounded after an altercation with Stephen turns nasty. In photos of the upcoming scenes, the cabbie can be seen with blood trickling down his face and lying on the ground. The shocking spoilers have left Corrie viewers desperately concerned for Tim's future on the show - and wondering just when Stephen's tirade of horror will come to an end.

Since his arrival onto the cobbles in April 2022, the 'illegitimate' son of Audrey Roberts has killed three people in total - Leo Thompkins, Teddy Thompkins and Rufus Donahue.

But despite nailing his role as a disturbing villain on screen, it appears Todd Boyce is nothing like the character he portrays on the cobbles. Dynevor has set the record straight on the American actor who plays Stephen Reid, revealing she even has to assure fans of the show that he is the furthest thing from a psychopath in reality.

"When people stop me in the supermarket and tell me how much they hate him, I have to tell them Todd is probably one of the nicest men you will ever meet," she said. "He’s a very beautiful man and it’s been a pleasure doing any of the scenes with him. He’ll be really missed, he’s been a lovely part of the cast. It’s really sad when someone leaves, but I think he’ll go on to do wonderful things because he’s fabulous."

Stephen is set to leave Weatherfield next week, but remains unknown exactly how he'll be written out of the show. Before his return to Coronation Street last year, Todd had played the former businessman twice before; for the first time in 1997 and the second in 2007.

Speaking about his upcoming departure from the long-running soap next Friday, the 62-year-old admitted he has mixed feelings. "On the one hand it’s sad to be leaving the show, but it’s also gratifying, because it’s closure. I started in the show in my 30s and I’m now in my early 60s. I’ve had three go's and the final go was just a gift from heaven. I couldn’t have wished for anything more exciting."

Dynevor shares Todd's bittersweet emotions over Stephen's exit, revealing that she's "loved" his storyline "since the very beginning." "It’s been brilliant, and the fact that it has involved so many people on the Street and that we’re all a community looking for this man," she added. "He’s got himself involved in everyone’s stories. It’s wonderful to be a part of that. They’re the best. This has been so much fun."
