Activision Blizzard is set to unveil further details about Diablo 4’s second season and its new vampiric theme in an upcoming stream.

Diablo 4 continues to have a spotty reputation in the months since it first launched. In our review we called it an “intrinsically addictive reinvention of hell”, but such good will was largely squashed after several post-launch updates like the infamous 1.1.0a patch nerfed all five classes. Its debut season, Season of the Malignant, was expected to earn back player trust, yet the complex malignant heart system, confusion over what progress carries over and lack of storage space dampened proceedings.

Luckily, Diablo 4 being a live-service style game means that developer Activision Blizzard has another shot at redemption with the arrival of Diablo 4 Season 2. First revealed during this year’s Gamescom Opening Night Live show in Germany, we know it’s called Season of Blood and will bring with it a new vampiric theme when it launches later this month on October 17, 2023. Outside of a new questline and new powers, however, the studio has been quiet on the finer details.

These finer details finally look to be revealed, with the game’s global community and development manager, Adam Fletcher, announcing in a Twitter post that Diablo 4 Season 2 developer update livestream is coming soon. Much like previous Diablo 4 Season 2 livestreams, a lot of new information will be revealed about the upcoming season – hence why Diablo fans should tune in.

Diablo 4 Season 2 update livestream start time

The Diablo 4 Season 2 update livestream will take place on Wednesday, October 4 at 7pm BST / 2pm EDT / 11am PDT in line with previous streams and campfire chats. So says the announcement blog post found on the official Activision Blizzard website, where various members of the team are expected to “dive into the looming Season of Blood, and many details on the quality-of-life updates first announced at Gamescom.”

How to watch Diablo 4 Season 2 update livestream

Much as before, players were able to watch the Diablo 4 Season 2 update livestream live either on the Diablo YouTube channel or Diablo Twitch channel. If you missed either, though, here's a link to the archived video:

What to expect from Diablo 4 Season 2 update livestream

As is plainly evident, the main topic of discussion during the livestream will be Diablo 4 Season 2. More specifically the accompanying blog post promises deep dives into “many quality-of-life updates arriving throughout” Season of Blood, more specifically “additional Stash space and functionality, improvements to Dungeons, Mounts” as well as much else. Players should also expect to learn how the new season’s vampiric powers will complement and work alongside each class' Active Skills.

Interestingly, Activision Blizzard has also revealed that another, follow-up Campfire Chat livestream will take place just under a week later on Tuesday, October 10 – exactly seven days before Diablo 4 Season 2 will roll out across PlayStation, Xbox and PC platforms. This Campfire Chat seems to be focused on upcoming balance changes outside of the season such as “class balance changes and re-works to several in-game systems”. Here’s hoping all these efforts combined can help get Diablo 4 back on track.
