Loch Ness Monster's 'long neck and short head is spotted' by nurse

A nurse has claimed she saw the Loch Ness Monster while driving home after going out to walk her dog. Fiona Wade insists she saw a 12ft creature in the loch, near Inverness, Scotland on August 31 earlier this year.

The 60-year-old had been out taking her dog for a walk and was driving home when she noticed three humps in the water. Fiona, from Cannich, north Scotland, says the creature made an appearance for around 40 seconds before returning to the deep loch.

"I couldn't get my head around it when I saw it. It was something I couldn't explain, couldn't rationalise," Fiona said. "When I travelled to work in the 80s and 90s I would pass Loch Ness at least once a week. It was my patch so I'm very familiar with that area. Plus I'm an outdoors person. I go camping, I do hill walking - I know what should be around lochs.

"I'm very rational and scientific as that's part of my job. It wasn't a submarine. I'm not a monster hunter. I just don't see what else it could have been."

It is the seventh recorded sighting of what could be the Scottish folklore creature this year. Fiona was unable to take a picture of the creature as she was driving but others have managed to snap the monster in the past. She explained: "I was just driving past like I normally would. I saw something in the loch and initially thought 'Oh that's a big stag'. Then I thought it may have been a boar but it had a long neck. But I glanced again and I saw what I can only describe as a second hump.

"Then I saw a short head. It was a really weird feeling. I couldn't stop on the road. I knew it wasn't going to be there for long. I didn't have time to get out and take a photo.

"I just stared at it. I have good vision. I only use glasses for reading and even then it's a +2 prescription. It was there for around 40 seconds before disappearing. I know it sounds irrational and ridiculous. But I saw something that was no animal, no sea creature."

Fiona drove back home and immediately phoned her sister. She added: "I said to her 'I know this sounds nuts but I think I've just seen the Loch Ness Monster'. She was browsing online and she saw the woman who had taken a picture a few weeks ago. And it was the same location on the loch."

The latest sighting comes after Siobhan Janaway reported seeing ripples in the water on August 27, which Siobhan believes was the mythical beast moving at great speed. The day before, Alastair Gray said he saw humps in the loch.

Dad-of-four Steve Valentine said he spotted a “black shape” with “a hump” on August 17. On June 15, Etienne Camel and his wife Eliane, from Lyon, France were visiting Loch Ness and claimed to have spotted a 65ft long dark shape moving just beneath the surface of the water for several minutes.

Another tourist, Ceci, from the USA, said she also saw something mysterious for a number of minutes on May 31. On April 5, Francesca McGarvey, of Paisley, was visiting with her mum and dad when she claims she spotted humps in the water. All seven 'sightings' were recorded on the Official Register of Loch Ness Monster Sightings. It was compiled by Nessie expert Gary Campbell who has been doing it since 1996. A huge search operation looking for Nessie took place in August involving drones and hi-tech kit.
