Hilarious comedian Vic Reeves has revealed some comical plans for his own funeral that are anything but ordinary.

Whilst the 64-year-old isn't planning on popping his clogs any time soon, he has thought through the details of what he would like at his funeral and how he would like to be carried out. The comedian, who's real name is Jim Moir, has described his quirky plans as "quite the spectacle" that will have 'people buying tickets'.

Vic, who has been married to his wife Nancy Sorrell since 2003, also revealed he wants the wife and actress to be involved with the couple sharing a romantic moment even in death and being buried hand in hand.

Speaking on the Where There’s A Will There’s A Wake podcast alongside fellow comedian Kathy Burke, he explained: "I always said I wanted to be buried. I want to get buried next to Nancy, holding hands through a hole in the side of the coffin."

He added: "So when I’m buried there’ll be one hand sticking out the side waiting in anticipation. I’ve often thought about cremation...[but] I’d rather be gently gnawed at by worms and beetles."

Discussing making his funeral a spectacle, he added: "I think I’d like to be buried at a 45 degree angle. I’d have two giants at the back and two very short people in the front to carry me along at 45 degrees.

"I’d get fired from a cannon, like a circus cannon, into the church through the top window, into a net, then rolled into the coffin. It’s going to be quite a spectacle. People are going to be buying tickets for this funeral... I might have to get Pink Floyd involved as well."

Whilst the respected comedian isn't approaching death in the near future, he did reveal in 2021 that he is 'living with deafness' after doctors discovered a tumour is growing on his brain and has cut off all hearing in one of his ears. The star has been diagnosed with a vestibular schwannoma – also known as acoustic neuroma, which is a non-cancerous brain tumour.

Opening up about his health battle on The Adam Buxton Podcast, Vic said: "I've got a vestibular schwannoma - it's a tumour in my head. I've gone completely deaf, 100 per cent deaf, in the left ear, and it will never come back. It's dead - absolutely completely gone. It's like the size of a grape so they just have to keep an eye on it."

The comedian went on to explain that the growth is fortunately not at risk of being deadly, as he shared: "It's benign. They can't remove it - they can shrink it or they can leave it and keep an eye on it, and that's what they're doing.

"The eardrum and your brain, there's a nerve and that takes all the information from your ear to your brain and the tumour is right in between the nerve, so it's gone ping and snapped it and you can't reattach nerves."
