Horror movie producer Jason Blum admits he made a major change to The Exorcist because he is afraid of Taylor Swift.

The iconic film maker - responsible for producing hit movies including Insidious and The Purge - has admitted he felt so scared of the chart-topping star that he felt like he had no choice but to bring forward the release of Exorcist: Believer from Friday October 13 after Taylor announced her Eras Tour concert film would also be opening that day.

Despite the date being a traditional scary film release day, Jason admitted feeling he had no choice.

He told Entertainment Tonight: "We had this amazing Friday the 13th in October, which is the single best day to release a scary movie. Obviously, we moved off that and we bowed our head to Taylor Swift. Confirming that Exorcist: Believer will now be released on October 6 he added: "It was too risky to see if 'Exorswift' was going to take or not. People will still have the ‘Exorswift’ opportunity, so maybe we got to have our cake and eat it too."

Jason initially suggested that he would go head to head with Taylor on the date in a Barbie vs Oppenheimer style opening weekend referring to the challenge as Exorswift on his social media. However he quickly changed his mind joking with her on Twitter at the time writing: "Look what you made me do," adding the hashtag #TaylorWins."

Jason joked to ET: "The one thing that scares me to death is Taylor Swift!"

Taylor's tour caused chaos last year when tickets went on sale crashing Ticketmaster's website due to the huge demand from fans to try and get to see her perform live at one of the string of sell-out shows.

Meanwhile The Exorcist: Believer gets its release 50 years on from the original cult classic movie The Exorcist which was a huge hit in 1973 and has remained a notorious fan favourite horror flick in he decades since. The plot focuses on two young women who start behaving like Linda Blair's infamous Regan MacNeil during her demonic possession. The movie also stars Ellen Burstyn who played Regan's mother in the original film, reprising her role for the first time.
