Pinball machine tops list of best arcade games of all time
The pinball machine has been named the best arcade game of all time – with a quarter (26%) of gaming lovers even saying they would have one in their house, if they could.
Pac Man and Space Invaders followed close behind, while air hockey and the coin pusher machines rounded out the top five.
And beloved Nintendo games including Super Mario and Donkey Kong also made the top 10 list of best arcade games – alongside the toy grabbers, the dance mat, and the car racing machine.
It comes as a survey of 2,000 adults, who have played games in an arcade, found that 21% admit they spent most of their childhood doing so – but don't regret it.
And 43% would recommend arcade games to younger generations – while 19% already have children who play the same arcade games they used to as a child.

To celebrate the pinball machine being crowned as the most elite arcade game, a giant, playable pinball game, called Pinballer, was projected onto the Truman Brewery in Spitalfields, and passers-by had the opportunity to play.
The game, measuring a huge 225 square metres on the side of the building, was projected for three hours, between 7-10pm.

The research also revealed that 34% have won a prize from playing an arcade game – with a toy (69%), tokens and coins (57%), and money (52%) coming out on top. As a result, 84% say they get a buzz from winning a prize on an arcade game.
The 80s was voted the best decade for arcade games (29%), with the 70s and 90s coming joint second (14%).
The study, via OnePoll.com, also saw more than two-thirds (67%) claim arcade games hold a special place in gaming culture, with 32% saying it gives them fond, nostalgic memories from their childhood.
