She’s known for her role as Eleven in sci-fi drama Stranger Things. Now British actress Millie Bobby Brown has sparked an international mystery of her very own.

The animal-loving star, 19, appeared on BBC Radio 1’s Breakfast Show, telling host Greg James she’d given two pet tortoises to a school before the pandemic.

“I gave them to a classroom,” she said. “They still exist, they’re still alive, but they live in a classroom, which I think is really nice.” But after revealing she didn’t know where her former pets – Becky and David – ended up, Greg has made it his mission to find out.

DJ Greg updated listeners on his investigation and explained he was working with the theory the animals were at a school in the Atlanta area of America, where Millie Bobby Brown lives. He said: “We need to track them down and tell the school that they are in possession of a very, very famous person’s very famous tortoises because they don’t know that they came from Millie Bobby Brown and I think it would be a nice treat for the kids to be like, ‘You know Eleven from Stranger Things, those are her tortoises’.”

Speaking on his show earlier this week, DJ Greg said: “We’re going to find these tortoises if it’s the last thing I do.” Greg is making progress, speaking on a radio station in Atlanta this week where local hosts widened the appeal across the region, while a clip of Millie sharing details of her other pets has gone viral, with millions of views.

During her appearance on the show, Millie, who is engaged to Jacob Bongiovi, son of singer Jon Bon Jovi, shared her long list of pets, including eight dogs, four cats, goats Cardi B, Slick Rick and Biggie Smalls, Bernard the donkey, Lemonade the pony and Bellatrix the rabbit.

She told Greg how she raised her pet sheep Norman in her bed, bottle-fed him for eight weeks, took him “everywhere” with her, including grocery shopping and got him a pram.

Dog's day out

Dogs from Battersea packed up their tennis balls and frisbees earlier this month for a special day of fun and enrichment. Dedicated staff from the charity’s Brands Hatch Centre took rescue dogs Bounce, Kai, Dottie, Milo and Teddy for an exciting trip to the coast to help them get used to new experiences.

Bethany Montgomery, team leader at Battersea and one of the team members who took the dogs on their trip, said: “They really enjoyed dipping their paws in the sea and running around in the sand. Expert care is at the heart of what we do at Battersea, and exploring different surroundings is a vital part of this. Local dog-friendly beaches are a great place for our dogs to have a fun day out.”

Among those who attended was one-year-old Bounce, a sweet lurcher who loves to spend time with his favourite people. He especially enjoys playing fetch with his beloved tennis balls. This September, it’s “Wear Blue for Rescue” at Battersea, a chance for pet owners and supporters to come together and show their love for rescue dogs and cats.
