Sucks Pistol John Lydon says he can only eat liquids and soft food as his teeth are falling out.

The Anarchy in the Chew-Decay singer, best known as Johnny Rotten, revealed he has paid the price for not cleaning his gnashers. Hitting out at titanium implants,

John said: “They’re not what they’re cracked up to be. They forgot to mention to me you’re still supposed to brush your teeth.

“Well, bad things have happened. The gums have receded and the teeth have got nothing of substance to keep hold of. That’s why I’m gritting my teeth when I speak. And I can’t chew hard things, and I shouldn’t anyway.” Asked on Radio 4 if this meant lots of liquid meals, John said: “Yes!”

The 67-year-old

and Public Image Ltd star, whose hits include Anarchy in the UK, is recovering from the death of wife Nora Forster, who died aged 80 in April after battling ­Alzheimer’s disease. John has now quit alcohol after becoming worried about his mental and physical health.

On the XS Noize podcast in August, he said: “There was three months of non-stop drinking and I wasn’t getting drunk and it wasn’t helping push the sadness away, and I stopped. That was hell. But I’m getting better and focusing on doing things right rather than selfishly saddened. If Nora is around and she’s looking at me the last thing she wants to see is me crying into a bottle of whiskey.”
