When high street favourite Marks and Spencer teamed up with fashion icon Sienna Miller, the whole nation took note. Even my fiance looked up from his YouTube video to exclaim ‘is that Sienna Miller??’ - yes, yes it is.

The mum-to-be became the face of the retailer’s latest clothing campaign earlier this month, and her ‘as seen on’ styles have been proving to be extremely popular. In the advert, it was an that had captured my attention, so I headed into my local store to try it on for myself in a bid to look as glam as Ms Miller.

The new AW23 collection from Marks and Spencer is nothing short of stunning, with some real capsule wardrobe staples and fun statement picks to choose from. This outfit definitely falls under ‘dopamine dressing’, and while it’s quite a maximalist look, individually, they would slot into a more colourful capsule wardrobe or add a pop of colour to a neutral one.

Browsing the womenswear section, it wasn’t difficult to spot the or the , least not for their vibrancy but for the fact they’d been styled on a mannequin. I did have a scout around for the Brushed Fringed Scarf, but it appeared to be so popular it’s now out of stock both online and in my local store.

In the fitting rooms, I pulled on the and I immediately loved the colour. I wear a lot of lime green anyway, so this would slot straight into my existing wardrobe. Its elasticated waist made it comfortable to wear and did a great job at hiding my tummy, but means it will be as comfortable on days where I feel bloated as it does on the days I’m not.

The length I found to be really flattering and offered a feminine silhouette - I wish I’d worn the look with a pair of boots to elongate my legs further, but I feel like this could still be dressed down for a more casual look with trainers anyway.

As for the , it’s so incredibly soft to the touch, being thick enough to keep you warm but not too bulky for wearing under jackets or tucking into skirts. That said, I did have a bit of a struggle getting my tuck just right - it has to look effortless, like ‘oh, this old thing, I just threw this on’ and it’s a skill that’s harder to master than it looks. I did eventually get to a point where I was happy with the overall look, though and for me, it’s an outfit that definitely gives some off-duty model vibes.

The is really on trend and perfect for the season, while the rolled cuffs make for some interesting attention to detail. I can see why it made Sienna’s edit. I did feel like there was something missing from the overall look though, perhaps it was the scarf, or maybe the boots. M&S also have some incredible lime green bags at the moment that would have really tied it all together.

If I were to buy either of these pieces, . At £35, some people have complained about the price point, while others have said it looks more expensive than the tag would suggest. I find a slip skirt is so easy to wear and can be styled year-round, meaning it will be one of the hardest working pieces in your wardrobe for years to come.

On the , it has a near perfect rating of more than four and a half stars, with one writing: “I'm very happy with this skirt, it's comfortable and very flattering. It doesn't cling to your tummy like lots of satin clothing can. It moves nicely when you walk. It is good on a curvy hourglass shape, the elastic waistband is great. The material is slightly matt and not cheap and shiny looking.”

Another added: “I’m happy with it but I feel was marginally overpriced, however, I will get many wears out of it.” With a third commenting: “Looks more expensive than it is, very comfortable to wear, lovely colour.”

There’s another midi skirt I’ve been tempted to add to my wardrobe in recent weeks, though, and that’s the from New Look, which is £25.99 so perfect if you considered the M&S one to be on the pricier side - although the colour palette is very different, with lots of deep, rich shades like burgundy and forest green. Alternatively , with colours like khaki, beige and brown for that quiet luxury aesthetic.
