An iconic comedy star is set to join the cast of Coronation Street.

Justin Moorehouse, 53, is set to appear in the ITV soap in the very near future, after reportedly shooting a scene with one of its longstanding actors. The radio DJ and stand-up comedian, best known for starring in Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights, is expected to grace the cobbles in an episode that will air next week.

"He’s filmed a sketch with Jack P Shepherd [David Platt] for the show - he’s not a permanent cast member, it’s more of a cameo," a source told the Sun. This isn't the first time that Justin has had a stint on Corrie. Justin played Dean Upton, landlord of rival pub to Rovers Return, The Flying Horse, back in 2014. The role had him pitted up against Steve in a cricket match, and making a bet that he ultimately loses.

"I'm delighted to be treading the cobbles," Justin said at the time. "It's always been a dream of mine to appear in the Rovers Return, even though as Dean, landlord of the Flying Horse, I feel like I'm a spy." He also appeared on Corrie very briefly to deliver a car to Sally Webster, but that cameo went largely unnoticed by most viewers.

The news that he'll back in Weatherfield comes as Coronation Street airs its first ever gay wedding with Paul Foreman, played by Peter Ash, and Billy Mayhew, played by Daniel Brocklebank, exchanging vows.

While it remains unclear how exactly Justin will contribute to Corrie, it's believed that he will imitating his own life on screen by playing a radio presenter.
