A mum-of-three burst into tears after a stranger paid for her family's weekly food shop after she couldn't afford it. Beth Nelson, from Denton in Tameside, was teary-eyed on TikTok as she shared that a kind stranger had paid the £41.65 cost of the food shop she needed for her family for the week.

The young mum told viewers she reached the checkouts when she realised she didn't have enough to cover the cost of the bill for family-of-four's food shop. But as she was trying to work out what items she was going to have to put back, she said a stranger came to her rescue.

Ms Nelson broke down as she said on TikTok: "We got to the till and we didn't have enough. And everyone was staring at me. And I was trying to decide what do we need more than something else. And somebody came forward and paid the extra."

Beth then said the stranger asked for a word with the mum outside, which filled Beth with dread. Beth said: "I thought she would shout at me or call me names."

But actually, the woman gave Ms Nelson some advice. In the TikTok, Ms Nelson said: "She was really nice. She gave me some money to see me through the week, and she gave me a massive hug and said she had been in the same position before."

The kind stranger also reminded Beth that just because she might be struggling at the moment, it doesn't mean she's a bad mum. She told Ms Nelson there are many people out there who have also been through the same challenges the young mum is currently facing.

People have now flooded the mother-of-three's comment section sharing their own financially precarious experiences, reports the Daily Mail. One wrote: "I know this too well. I have to make £20 stretch for me and my son every week. I go without so he doesn't you're a great mum, doing her best."

Another said in: "Know this feeling too well. Currently on day three of not eating myself so my kids eat, and have gas and electric. Hope things look up for you soon."

One person shared how they 'cried for weeks', after a woman bought them nappies because they failed to realise they did not have enough on their bank card for them. Others uplifted the mother-of-three, with one commenting: "Please never ever think you are a bad mum for struggling. You are doing your best for your family and that is all you can do."

Some called the charitable stranger 'one of God's angels', with many encouraging the the mother-of-three to pass the kindness on. One user wrote: "That lady was there for a reason. I guarantee your chance will come along to be that lady."

Ms Nelson assured viewers that she would pass on the good deed once she was "back on [her] feet."
