Laurence Fox says GB News 'knew exactly what I intended to say' before live rant

Laurence Fox claims he informed GB News producers about what he planned to say ahead of appearing on Dan Wootton's show on Tuesday night.

Following GB News confirming the former actor has been suspended by the channel, Fox took to Twitter on Wednesday morning to slam the broadcaster for announcing his suspension via social media - claiming GB News "knew exactly what I intended to say" as he shared a screenshot of a text message conversation seemingly between himself and a producer.

Fox appeared on Dan Wootton Tonight on Tuesday night, during which the actor turned aspiring politician made several crude and derogatory remarks about female journalist Ava Evans. During the broadcast, Fox described Ms Evans as a "little woman" and declared: "We don’t need these sort of feminist 4.0" who, he said, are "pathetic and embarrassing", adding: "Who would want to shag that?"

Fox's comments sparked a furious backlash online - with Ms Evans telling her Twitter (aka X) followers she felt physically sick following the broadcast - and host Wootton issuing an apology. On Wednesday morning, just minutes before his suspension was announced by GB News, Fox took to Twitter to stand by his comments and refuse to issue "a grovelling apology".

Following GB News confirming Fox's suspension on Twitter, the former actor quote-tweeted the statement from opinion-orientated news television channel and shared a text conversation seemingly between himself and a GB News producer with his Twitter followers.

"A phone call might have been polite," Fox began when captioning the screenshot. "By matter of interest for the audience contributors do a pre interview before going on, so they knew exactly what I intended to say. I fully defend the the home of free speech’s right to capitulate to the mob…"

The extract of the WhatsApp message shown in the screenshot shared by Fox reads: "STORY 2: Why did the BBC allow a hard left commentator to dismiss a heartfelt plea about male suicide as "part of the culture war" - and does this show the state broadcaster has an anti-man agenda?SAYS: This is whatever wave of feminism we're on now, it's just pure man hating.

"They've been force fed so much rubbish, like the gender wage gap, told to go out, grab life and make a living for themselves that it's turned them bitter. People always forget that 99% more of deaths are men protecting women and the suicide rates are much higher. If a man had said this there would has been outrage.

"Whatsmore it makes these women deeply unattractive. What man would ever want to be in a relationship with a woman unless they were a self-hating simp.STORY 3: Why did a gay charity meant to represent all."

During the GB News broadcast on Tuesday night, Wootton and Fox discussed Ms Evans comments made by the former LBC producer during her appearance BBC Politics Live on Monday, with the journalist attracting attention due to her remarks about men's mental health. Following her appearance on the BBC show, Ms Evans tweeted: "I was a little rash on my anti-minister for men comments which I do regret and am actually very interested in a brief for a minister on young men’s mental health."

Tuesday's edition of Dan Wootton Tonight saw the strapline on the screen read: "Smirking Face of Disdain", with the text under it reading: "Hard-left commentator slammed for shrugging off male suicide crisis". Speaking to Wootton via video link, Fox discussed Ms Evans and said: "We’re past the watershed so I can say this: show me a single self-respecting man that would like to climb into bed with that woman, ever, ever, who wasn’t an Incel?

"That little woman has been fed, spoon-fed oppression day after day after day… starting with the lie of the gender wage gap, and she’s sat there and I’m going, if I met you in a bar and that was like sentence three, chances of me just walking away are just huge. We need powerful strong amazing women who make great points for themselves, we don’t need these sort of feminist 4.0… they’re pathetic and embarrassing. Who would want to shag that?"

Giggling, Wootton replied: "Well, look, she, I’m just going to provide a touch of balance from her because she did actually respond to this earlier today, saying that she regretted her comments but she didn’t apologise." The New Zealand born broadcaster added: "And she’s a very beautiful woman, Laurence, very beautiful woman."

GB News suspended Fox from the channel on Wednesday morning, with media regulator Ofcom confirming it has received "a number of complaints" regarding Fox's comments on Tuesday night's broadcast.
