Footage shows Ukraine’s new underwater kamikaze drone Marichka being checked ahead of deployment.

The newly-designed torpedo with 450kg of explosives is set to be unleashed on Russian warships and submarines. It is also expected to be targeted at the £3 billion Crimean Bridge which Ukraine has already hit twice during the war which the Russians have managed to partially repair.

The footage shows the 20-ft long, £355,000 sea monster being checked in the water at a secret location. It is a development by Ammo. Ukraine volunteers which boasts an invulnerability to Russian radio-electronic warfare systems, making it largely "invisible to the enemy".

It also has “a unique communication system with the operator, which makes it possible to control the submarine at great distances and depths”. It is a separate innovation to Ukraine’s ‘Sea Baby’ drone which has been used against the bridge and warships.

Its makers say the Marichka drone “cannot be detected by radars, scanners and echo sounders” and has a range of some 620 miles. The submarine drone can be used to strike enemy targets but also for reconnaissance. It also has the capacity to lurk on standby mode in the water before being directed at a target

It comes shortly after it emerged that Ukraine was preparing a new "super missile" that is a " completely modern weapon". It can "flawlessly" wipe out Russian air defences in Crimea, according to the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (GUR).

Footage shared last week showed an explosion near the village of Olenivka, in the Tarkhankut peninsula. Oleksiy Danilov, secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, said on August 26 that the blast wiped out a Russian S-400 air defence system. According to Ukrainian intelligence, the entire system was destroyed, along with all missiles and personnel.

Danilov was speaking to Ukrainske Radio about the attack on the northwestern tip of Russian-occupied Crimea and said the "new, completely modern" Ukrainian-made missile worked "flawlessly." The S-400 anti-aircraft system that was wiped out could strike targets in air, on land, and at sea, and had the ability to hit aerial targets up to 250 miles away.
