LAPD currently 'not investigating' Russell Brand amid sexual assault allegations
The Los Angeles Police Department is currently not investigating Russell Brand for sexual assault claims made against him that allegedly happened in BBC's Los Angeles office.
An anonymous woman came forward, the seventh to accuse Brand of indecent activity, said she worked for an organisation in the same building BBC has their Los Angeles office. In a statement to Daily Mirror, the LAPD said: "at this time there is no investigation" in regards to the British comic.
On June 16 2008, Brand allegedly made unwanted sexual advances towards her. The woman answered the door for Brand and his team who were set to record an episode of The Russell Brand Show. She later walked past the radio studio to head to the bathroom. While she was in there, squatting down to look at the medicine cabinet, she felt someone standing behind her.

She told BBC News: "I was startled and got up and I realised it was the man that I'd let in - Russell." The woman then reported that Russell wanted to call her "Betty" and said: "Oh, I think you're a bit alright. I think you're a bit of alright." When she said that her name wasn't Betty, he responded: "Well, I'm gonna f*** you."
She claimed she told him no, but then he pulled out his penis and "pretty much served it to me as you would be serving someone some food". The woman also said she felt trapped in the bathroom and the door was closed. When someone allegedly started knocking on the door, Brand put his penis back in his trousers and left the bathroom.

The woman returned to her desk and allegedly texted a BBC employee about it. The employee supposedly said that he already knew about it because Brand was reportedly talking about it in the radio studio. She never made a formal complaint but alleges BBC management was told of the incident in 2019 but no official action was taken.

"It's been 25 minutes since he showed his willy to a lady," Morgan said. Brand laughed and replied: "Very easy to judge, Very easy to judge. Look..." Morgan then added: "Receive this! He got told off for ringing a bell, minutes later he's showing his willy."
The woman shared her thoughts on finding the episode after the recent accusations came out against Brand. "I feel ashamed, but more so I wonder had something been done, perhaps there would have been fewer women he would have done horrible things to, which we're reading about in the papers now," she said, "Had I known audio existed, I probably would have done something as the incident would have been corroborated."
Morgan broke his silence on the accusations against Brand, and told BBC's News at 10: "I was not aware until now of the nature of this encounter. I’ve expressed my regrets now looking back at the impact of the show, and this is a further example. The recent coverage has been very distressing to read and I reiterate my absolute condemnation of any form of mistreatment of women."
