Strictly's Angela Scanlon reported to police as she's filmed in car window stunt

Strictly Come Dancing's Angela Scanlon has spoken for the first time since being reported to Hertfordshire Police.

The Irish presenter, who is currently appearing on the BBC One dancing competition, uploaded a video to her Instagram Account showing her dancing out of the window of a moving car. Angela, 39, was seen not wearing a seatbelt while hanging out of the rear window for her dance which was filmed by a passenger in the front of the car.

She posted the clip to her Instagram in view of her 317,000 followers before swiftly deleting it. Angela was seen dancing to the hit track Rapper's Delight by The Sugarhill Gang.

But after being reported, she has now apologised for her actions. In a statement, she said: "'I made absolutely the wrong decision when I filmed this video. I was coming from rehearsals and was giddy with excitement. That's not an excuse, because what I did was stupid and I'm sorry I let my excitement get the better of my judgement."

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Police told the Mirror: "Hertfordshire Police have received a report from a member of the public about a woman not wearing a seat belt in a moving vehicle in Borehamwood." Angela was reported to Hertfordshire Police on Monday, September 25, although the outcome of the report is not known at this time. Speaking to the MailOnline, a source said: "Angela thought she was having a laugh, playing up to being on Strictly. But leaning out of a moving car is incredibly dangerous and she should know better. Her place on Strictly won't be at threat but she'll be warned about her behaviour going forward."

She described her actions as 'stupid'

The incident comes just days after Angela's first live performance on the programme with professional dancer Carols Gu as they danced the Tango to Miley Cyrus' track Prisoner, with Anton de Beke branding it "magnificent" while Craig Revel Horward saying the performance was "fantastic". Ahead of her second week, Angela teased that her routine would be "fast" and "intense".

Speaking on her Instagram Grid hours before being reported, she said: "Back in training this morning with a new dance. She's a FAST one. Send me (and my pelvic floor) good vibes only. It's intense. It's high energy. It's a lot. But I think it's going to be a fun one."

Jumping to her Instagram Stories, she added: "It was so overwhelming and nerve-wracking, and all of the other emotions thrown in there. Very exciting seeing everybody dance, because we've been all separate in different training rooms, and then you see what an incredible job everybody's done and how brilliant everybody looks, and that was kind of amazing. So anyway, week two. Let's go!"
