Joe Jonas warned 'backlash will get worse' by unlikely Sophie Turner supporter

An unlikely famous figure has spoken out in support of actress Sophie Turner as her divorce from US singer Joe Jonas becomes a messy custody battle.

The couple, who announced their split at the start of this month after four years of marriage, have now been locked in a legal battle over the custody of their two daughters and where they shall reside. English actress Sophie has requested for her daughters to live with her in the UK, citing that she and husband Joe had previously discussed bringing up their children away from the US.

Sophie claimed the family would move into a new home in the UK when it was completed in December of this year and they had sold their Miami home for $15million earlier this year. Now the Game of Thrones actress has been backed by the support of an unlikely famous figure with former politician Nadine Dorries sharing her support for the mum of two.

Writing in her column for the Daily Mail, former I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! star Nadine shared her support for Sophie as she wrote: "But the tide has turned. The court of public opinion has started to see that Joe himself is apparently no angel - and his own actions raise 'concerns'."

Discussing the legal petition launched by Sophie to get her children returned to her and to be able to bring them back to the UK, Nadine gave her full backing for the actress as she revealed "I would have done the same". She also had sage words of advice for Joe Jonas as she concluded her piece: "Women are speaking out on Sophie's behalf - and Joe obviously never expected that kind of backlash. I have news for you, Joe. The backlash is going to get worse."

The public backing for Sophie comes as the divorce continues to be difficult, although Sophie and Joe are rumoured to have called a 'truce' as they have reportedly agreed to keep their children in New York for the time being as the duo's divorce hearing continues.

A court agreement reportedly states the young pair must remain in the country, despite Sophie's previous requests. It's said the pair have "agreed to the entry of the attached proposed Interim Consent Order, without prejudice to either party's claims and defenses, prohibiting the removal of the parties' children from the jurisdictions... pending further order of this Court".

Sophie has also claimed that Joe filed the paperwork to divorce her without her knowing and that she found out four days later via the media. A representative of Joe’s denied to The Mirror that Joe filed the papers without Sophie’s knowledge. The Mirror also obtained a copy of a court order that bars either parent from relocating the children.

Sophie claims that the children’s official residence is in England, not in Florida where Joe’s papers were filed. Joe’s reluctance to comply with her request, she says, violates her parental rights under UK law.
