David Beckham may turn his sights to Real Madrid maestro Luka Modric as he looks to make another addition to his growing list of superstars at Inter Miami.

The former Manchester United hero's ambitious MLS club have pulled off numerous stellar signings in recent months, including the capture of Lionel Messi. However, it seems that the resurgent Herons are not looking to slow down their transformation any time soon.

Having already signed ex-Barcelona mainstays Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba over the summer, another La Liga icon could eventually head to Florida. According to the Dubrovnik Times, Santiago Bernabeu stalwart Modric is a target for Vice City ahead of a potential move in the summer of 2024.

The 38-year-old signed a new one-year deal with Los Blancos at the end of last term but has been used sparingly by Carlo Ancelotti so far this campaign. The Croatian has made just one start for the Spanish giants in the league, appearing four times as a substitute instead.

As it stands, it appears that his manager prefers using Aurélien Tchouaméni, Federico Valverde, Toni Kroos and Jude Bellingham in a midfield diamond. In his 12th season in the Spanish capital, it seems that the one-time Ballon d'Or victor is no longer a preferred starter.

The reality of his situation has not been lost on Modric, however, who addressed the subject of his reduced role while on international duty recently. He told Croatian newspaper Sportske Novosti : 'Nobody is happy when they don't play. After the career I've had, it's an especially strange feeling for me.

"But the coach [Ancelotti] decided that, for his own reasons. 'My only condition for staying was to be treated as a competitive player, and not to be kept in the squad on the basis of past merits."

Despite his frustrations, there is no doubting the former Tottenham midfielder's positive approach to his game-time. He added: "I am completely calm. I'm aware that I have to work hard and sooner or later everything will fall into place.

"These young guys are top players, that's why they're at Real. We veterans must help them progress and gradually take over the starting roles at the level that this club is looking for."

Speaking earlier in the campaign, head coach Ancelotti shed some light on the situation surrounding the Galacticos legend. Pointing out that Modric had already showed his commitment to Madrid by signing in the future, his manager asserted: "Luka has already defined his future.

"He has no problem, he will contribute. It's a special situation for everybody, for him it's strange not to play from the first minute but he will contribute as always."
