Strictly's Tess Daly divides fans with 'binbag' trousers for first live show
Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman divided fans with their outfits as they returned to host Strictly Come Dancing tonight.
The pair have been presenting partners for some time and they looked stunning as they wowed in two ballroom-worthy outfits to mark the first live show. Tess looked incredible in a long sleeved white shirt, complete with sparkly back trousers, whilst Claudia stunned in black long sleeve suit, complete with white detailing, as they kicked off the first live show of the BBC series.
Tonight, all 15 contestants will take to the dancefloor for the first time, but there will be no dance-off tomorrow. The judges' scores from this evening will be moved over to next week, when the first person gets sent home.
However, some Strictly fans were quick to liken Tess' trousers to bin bags. One fan wrote: "And we're back...Tess wearing a hideous pair of trousers #Strictly," as a second added: "Bin bag trousers Tess #fashionwatch #Strictly."
Speaking ahead of this series, Tess admitted it is an "adrenaline rush" doing the live shows, but she wouldn't have it any other way. She said: "The biggest joy for me is that this is a live TV show. It’s such an adrenaline rush.

Tess stunned in typical Strictly glitter style"I love that it’s completely authentic and anything could happen at any given moment .I absolutely love watching the audience faces as they react to the routines in the studio. And it’s talking about it with everybody I meet and being a part of something that feels authentic and special. The biggest challenge is probably running up the stairs and across the studio at speed in stilettos!"
The sparkly outfits are one of Claudia's favourite parts of the series - as well as working alongside Tess.
"The thing I am most looking forward to this series is us all being together. I love standing next to Tess and love trying on sparkly outfits. And mainly, I cannot wait to watch these people learn to dance," she revealed.
Heaping praise on Vicky Gill, who does the costumes for the contestants, Claudia said: "There are so many extraordinary departments in Strictly. The band, hair and make-up, direction, lighting. But if I could be with anyone all day it would be with Vicky Gill because those costumes are extraordinary. The colours, the way they move, the way that everything is recycled."
