Former Sheffield United striker Billy Sharp has resumed his war of words with Wrexham and warned owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney he could release a counter to their documentary to tell his side of the story.

This is not the first time the veteran forward, now of MLS club LA Galaxy, has leveled criticism towards the North Wales outfit. The 37-year-old's long-running stand-off with the Red Dragons stems back to a dramatic encounter in the FA Cup last season.

Phil Parkinson's side nearly pulled off a giant-killing after earning a 3-3 draw versus Sheffield United at the Racecourse Ground to send the tie to a replay. Eventually, Sharp was on hand to break Wrexham hearts as he put the Blades into the lead, with the score having been 1-1 heading into injury time.

Sander Berge then added a third goal for the Yorkshiremen as they finally broke the National League outfit's resolve after 180 minutes of play. The former Blades captain then was involved in a heated exchange with Wrexham head coach Parkinson, which Sharp referred to as a "little scuffle", and was critical of Wrexham's behaviour in the build-up to the replay in his post-match interview.

With speculation surrounding whether the fracas will be included in the FX documentary Welcome to Wrexham , the forward has now expressed his view on the prospect. And he has threatened to release his own version of events as he fired a series of jibes in the direction of the Hollywood-owned club.

Speaking to , Sharp said: "If they want to put me in the documentary, go ahead. I think people in Los Angeles probably know me now for scoring goals rather than knocking (Wrexham) out of the FA Cup. People don’t even know the real story. Wrexham will put out what they want to on their documentary, and maybe I'll put out my own and tell them what really happened.

"I scored the goal, which knocked them out, and a little scuffle happened in the changing room. I don’t really like their manager anyway from past experiences, and he probably doesn’t like me.

"It's just one of those things in football where it sometimes gets very overheated…I know what they’re going to do; they’re going to show the clips that make me look like a baddie.

"That’s fine. I'll wait to see what happens and have my say afterwards. The record book says we beat them in the FA Cup, so they can have a documentary about it if they want."

Unable to resist a further dig towards Dragons boss Parkinson, the 37-year-old star also explained what he has envisaged for his life after he hangs up his boots. He joked: "I'll probably become Wrexham manager when [Phil] Parkinson gets the sack."
