CBeebies star fired for topless pics hits back over reaction to latest nude pics
A former CBeebies presenter has spoken out after being criticized for posting topless snaps of herself on holiday with her children, dismissing the trolling comments as 'madness'.
Sarah-Jane Honeywell was sacked as a host on the BBC children's channel after appearing in a PETA campaign against eating meat in 2011, in which she posed topless while lying on a giant plate of fake food. She has since alleged that her firing was related to the nude photoshoot, which she agreed to do as part of her passionate vegan activism.
"I’m not really that political. I was just like, ‘I’ll do it to help’," Honeywell said, reflecting on the scandal in 2021.
The 49-year-old has now revealed that she still deals with sexist comments from folks online, some of whom have even mum-shamed her.
"I certainly wasn’t expecting such an uproar when I shared my snaps from our recent holiday to Spain," she told the Sun's Fabulous magazine recently. "I had let my CBoobies out on a beach in La Manga, and I posted a photo of myself topless on Instagram."

The backlash was so strong that some folks even accused her of being a bad influence on her sons, nine-year-old Phoenix and five-year-old Indiana.
"My comments section was flooded with strangers concerned about my ‘poor boys,'" she added. "It was madness, they’re just boobs!"

One person jumped to Sarah-Jane's defence, writing, "Can not believe some of the comments get over yourselves, they are on holiday and enjoying it good on them." Another fan said, "I could not do that in front of my kids. But good on you."
Elsewhere in the interview, Sarah-Jayne revealed she'd also received scathing messages over her history with addiction. The BBC radio presenter has previously spoken about her struggles with substance abuse, telling the Sun in 2013 that she once "was a seven grams-a-night coke addict" and later battled an addiction to the anti-depressant, Prozac.
After being let go from CBeebies, Sarah-Jane admitted she was unsure what path to take next. "I felt really lost, I felt like I’d lost my identity. My whole kind of sense of purpose, identity, everything about me felt like it was slipping away," she admitted in 2021. She also said the sacking left her and husband Ayden Callaghan in £100,000 of debt, and that she had to move into her parents' 'tiny garage' for three years before finding her own place to live.
Today, the mum-of-two hosts her own show BBC Radio Lincolnshire which plays the best of 80s and 90s music.
