The long-awaited Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.0 completely overhauls the game, and it's free! Here's what time the game-changing update goes live.

Original story: We don't need to regale you with the tale of how Cyberpunk 2077 was a massive disappointment at launch. In the three years since CD Projekt Red has been slowly improving the game, and this has culminated in the soon-to-be-released Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty DLC expansion. Our gaming editor Nathan Bliss' Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty review was pretty positive, with the update earning a four-star review score.

While the DLC is exciting, perhaps the most interesting part of Phantom Liberty's launch is the Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.0 release, which is arriving ahead of the expansion. Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.0 is set to completely overhaul the base game, with changes to perks, the combat, the skill tree system, and most notably, revamping the police AI, with car chases now possible.

Despite being linked to the Phantom Liberty Expansion, which launches on Tuesday, September 26, update 2.0 is actually releasing a bit earlier on Thursday, September 21 (that's today!). While CD Projekt Red hasn't released a Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.0 release time map as it did for the Phantom Liberty release time, thanks to a tweet from CD Projekt Red community manager @Lilayaah, we have a decent idea of when the update will arrive.

We're expecting the Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.0 to release at 4pm BST / 11am EDT / 8am PDT today. That's because CD Projekt Red announced an episode of RED Streams on Twitter at 3pm BST / 10am EDT / 7am PDT later today to discuss update 2.0 further. In response to a player asking what time the patch is releasing, community manager @Lilayaah tweeted that CD Projekt Red is "aiming to release the update close to the end of the stream".

While this episode of RED Streams doesn't have an announced runtime, the last episode lasted around an hour, so the release time above is a safe estimate. As with any update being rolled out, it's probably safe to give or take around half an hour or so if your game isn't updating at the above time.
