EastEnders star Lorraine Stanley decided to shelve her sadness of being axed from the BBC soap with a lavish trip to the European country of Montenegro.

The 47 year old actress, who has played Karen Taylor in the soap since 2017, confirmed her departure from the much-loved soap last month, after she took to social media to express her sadness with fans. Since then, Lorraine took the opportunity to embark on a lavish holiday to Montenegro with partner Mark Perez, who she has been dating since 2014. Sharing a number of snaps on her Instagram account, Lorraine looked as though she was having the time of her life.

In one picture, she is seen posing and pouting alongside her beau Mark, who she described as her "love" as they both donned dark sunglasses to shield them from the blistering sun. In another snap, Lorraine treated fans to a sunset picture where she held up her hand to look as though she was cupping the sun in between her fingers.

A third snap sees the actress donning an eye-catching turquoise and pink ombre swimsuit cover-up as she outstretched her arms and beamed to confidently pose for the camera while stood on a sun-drenched balcony in front of a stunning backdrop of crystal clear blue waters.

And while the landscape was clearly a treat for her fans, she also showcased the food she was indulging in while away. She captioned her pictures saying: "What an amazing time in Montenegro we had a few weeks ago. Such a beautiful place with my love."

And her fans were quick to comment. One wrote: "You look so beautiful." While another penned: "I am devastated Karen is leaving EE's, I loved your character! You played her so well." A third said: "Absolutely love your outfit in first photo lovely lady."

The mum-of-one learned that her character, Karen Taylor, is set to be written out of the BBC hit soap last month and announced it to fans. Viewers shared in Karen's heartbreak when she found out that her daughter Chantelle had been murdered by Gray Atkins.

Taking to Instagram to reveal the news, she wrote: "Hey everyone! I’m so grateful for all of your lovely messages this past week. Thank you to Daran Little for creating the Taylors and to the BBC for giving me the opportunity to play such a fabulous character, I’ll be sad to be saying goodbye to Karen Taylor and will miss all the cast and crew at EastEnders."

She added: "However I’m looking forward to my next chapter and excited about being a jobbing Actor again & starting new ventures.Again your kind words of support have been amazing!!! I’m going to miss my Taylor/Baker famalam Clair Norris, Danny Walters, Roger Griffiths and Matthew Morrison. Much love." [sic]

And her co-stars immediately sent their best wishes. Heather Peace, who plays Eve Unwin, wrote: "We will miss you very much. Here’s to new adventures lovely one." And fans commented in their droves. One said: "Karen is such a big character and you play her so well. Good luck with your new adventure."

Another commented: "Gonna miss Karen. Such a funny character always made me laugh. A third said: "We’ll miss you Lorraine. I’ve so enjoyed you and Karen over the past years. You were incredible during Chantelle’s storyline. Much love."
