Fleur East shares 'supportive' Rylan's words after replacing him on It Takes Two
Fleur East has shared her excitement of co-hosting Strictly Come Dancing spin-off, It Takes Two, with Janette Manrara.
It was announced earlier this year that Fleur, 35, who competed on the BBC One dance show last year, would be taking over presenting from Rylan Clark after he stepped down after four years. Talking about her hosting role, Fleur said: "It’s an incredible honour honestly because I had such an amazing experience on the show.
"Now it's like a continuation of my Strictly journey which was such an important experience for me, so I’m really grateful I get to carry this on." Asked if she's received any tips from Rylan, 34, Fleur added: "As soon as it was announced that I was taking on the role, Rylan sent me a message and said he was so excited and that I was going to have so much fun. I've worked with Rylan in the past and he's an incredible presenter so I have got some big boots to fill but he’s really been so supportive."
Elsewhere, Janette, 39, who welcomed a baby daughter named Lyra with her professional dancer husband Aljaž Škorjanec in July, said she's "super excited" for the return of Strictly season. She said: "Genuinely buzzing. I feel like it's going to be an incredible year just by looking at the line-up.

And as we always say, it marks the lead up to Christmas, so whenever Strictly starts back up, I think everybody, not just myself gets super excited."

Asked if she's given Fleur any It Takes Two tips, Janette said: "Fleur does not need any tips and tricks on how to be the best, I think she's going to be absolutely sensational! The audiences are going to love her. She's got such a good eye when it comes to the dances as she has already done the show in the past so she doesn't need any tips or advice. She just needs to be herself and enjoy!"
The former Strictly pro went on to reveal Rylan's sweet words ahead of the new series. She said: "Rylan did reach out and say good luck to myself for the series and Fleur. It was so special to do the first two years of me hosting It Takes Two with him because he's such an incredible professional.
"He's such a good presenter. He knows exactly what he's doing. He's got the biggest, kindest heart. And I couldn't have asked for anyone to be a better partner to me, and to show me the ropes when I joined the show, so I'll miss him but I'm super excited to be with my girl Fleur."
Earlier this year, Rylan confirmed he was stepping down in an emotional statement. His tweeted: "Been a pleasure @bbcstrictly," alongside a statement thanking the BBC series. The statement read: "After four fantastic years it's time for me to hang up my glittery jacket and say goodbye to It Takes Two.
"I've had the best time hosting alongside Janette and Zoe and I can't thank the amazing team enough for always putting on a great show." Rylan continued: "I've been welcomed into the Strictly family and will firmly hold that title dear to me. The time has come for me to pass on the baton to someone else and explore what else life has for me. Thank you Strictly, you will always have my heart...and my dancing feet."
It Takes Two was originally hosted by Claudia Winkleman but in 2011 Zoe Ball took over and was joined by Rylan in 2019 as a co-host. In 2021, Zoe announced she would be stepping down and Janette was later confirmed as her replacement.
Strictly: It Takes Two airs weekday at 6.30pm on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer. It returns to BBC Two at 6.30pm on 25 September.
