A clip of Russell Brand, Jonathan Ross and Noel Fielding making jokes about rape has resurfaced online. It comes after the Get Him To The Greek star, 48, faces severe allegations of rape, sexual assault and coercive, abusive behaviour, all of which he vehemently denies.

During an appearance on The Big Fat Quiz Of The Year in 2004, Russell sat alongside Mighty Boosh star Noel and chat show host Jonathan as they joined comedian Jimmy Carr and singer Lily Allen on the show. And it was Jonathan's introduction of the former popstar that kickstarted the vile banter about rape as he quipped that he hoped she "might go home with her dress still on."

Immediately, Noel jumped in to say: "How dare you we're not rapists." Jimmy Carr, who was hosting the show, asked why the comedian was wearing a cape if he wasn't a rapist. Noel continued to say that he's wearing a Jack The Ripper cape and claimed he wasn't a rapist, prompting Russell to jump in to complete the sentence by saying: "serial murderer."

Russell continued to say that there was no direct link between rape and cape. He added: "It's just a rhyme, leave him alone. What if horrors of horrors, he hasn't even done a rape you could ruin his reputation." He then asked Noel: "Have you done a rape?"

In the bid to get a roar of laughter from the audience, Noel then stood up, whisked the cape over his face and said: "Well, if I have, I'd be leaving tbhe scene of the crime like this." The clip, posted on Twitter has already attracted 160.4K views and a number of strongly opinionated comments.

One social media user commented: "The fact that they all went on to 'greater things' says everything. That may have been 'a different time' but they're all still here." Another commented: "Let’s not forget that in 2008, Brand and Ross bothered a man with prank calls. Nowhere near as bad as sexual assault allegations but the cruelty behind it all. They should have been cancelled years ago."

Four women have come forward to accuse Russell of sexual assualt between 2006 and 2013. The allegations have been investigated by The Sunday Times as part of its joint investigation with Channel 4's Dispatches programme.

The comedian became a household name back in 2004 when she presented Big Brother's Big Mouth. He soon went on to star in hit films including Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Rusell is now married to Laura Gallacher, who is the sister of presenter Kirsty Gallacher. The couple have two children together.

Rusell has denied all allegations and insisted that his relationships have all been consensual. Among the claims, is that the star raped a woman in Los Angeles on July 1 2012, which happens to be the exact same month he was legally divorced from singer Katy Perry. Their marriage lasted two years between 2010 and 2012.

It has been alleged that she text hom shortly after leaving his house and said she had been scared by him and felt that she had been taken advantage of. She added in the text message: "When a girl say[s] NO it means no." He allegedly replied saying he was "very sorry".

According to the Dispatches programme, she added: "I'm stuck underneath [a] painting and he's pushing up against me. [...] He's a lot taller than me. And he has that glazed look in his eye again. And I can't move. And I told him, 'Get off, get off.'" It was alleged that Russell pushed her up against the wall and raped her without using a condom for protection.
