Vardy reignites Tottenham rivalry with jibe despite unbeaten start to season
Jamie Vardy unsettled some Tottenham supporters after he brutally mocked the north London club during an on-stage appearance at BBC Radio 2's In The Park festival.
Vardy, 36, addressed the crowd at Leicester's Victoria Park - less than 48 hours after scoring his first Championship goal of the season in the Foxes' 4-1 rout over Southampton. The veteran forward picked up the microphone before standing up in front of around 35,000 spectators.
He was greeted with loud cheers before starting off by asking if there was any Tottenham fans in attendance. Nobody came forward, prompting Vardy to fire a thinly-veiled dig at Spurs fans. He said: "Still got no bottle!" The ex-England striker then introduced Vernon Kay, before departing off the stage.
Despite there being a lack of Tottenham supporters in the Leicester festival, many took to social media after a video went viral. One said: "Why are you guys so obsessed with Spurs? We literally couldn’t care less about your tiny club." Another added: "Trying to invent a rivalry because you don't have one."
Vardy was instrumental in Leicester's Premier League title success in 2015 as they battled it out with Spurs for large parts of the season. During the title battle, England teammate Harry Kane posted a picture of a pride of lions in a statement that Spurs were hunting down the league leaders.

Tottenham have made an excellent start to the season under Ange Postecoglou and made it four victories from five Premier League matches with a 2-1 win over Sheffield United on Saturday. Spurs sit two points behind table-toppers Manchester City and level with Arsenal and Liverpool.
As for Vardy, he opened his second-tier account for the season with a strike inside 21 seconds as Leicester ran riot against Southampton. He finished off a neat move, before Kasey McAteer, Wilfred Ndidi and Stephy Mavididi all scored to move Leicester back to the top of the Championship.

Leicester did, however, drop down to second on Saturday following Preston's 2-1 success over Plymouth, but Enzo Maresca will still be satisfied with his side's start to the campaign. They have 15 points from a possible 18 and are in action once more when they travel to fellow in-form Norwich in mid-week.
Speaking after Friday's win over Saints, Maresca said of Vardy: "I have always said the same about Jamie. He's not a player I discovered. His history talks for itself. He's a huge player, a big player.
Probably the most important player we have. But at the same time, we also have Kelechi (Iheanacho) and (Patson) Daka so we just try to manage the players at the front. I'm happy for (Jamie) that he scored, for a striker that's the most important thing. And I'm happy for the performance of the team."
Vardy also spoke following his side's victory and sent an ominous warning to the rest of the division. "We know how the manager wants us to play, we're doing it in training every single day," said Vardy.
"The amount of chances we create when we're playing against each other because of the way we're playing, there's nothing you can do about it. That's how good it is.
"It's a process. We're learning every day and hopefully it'll just keep getting better. We've got to keep improving. There's bits we'll take from tonight that we won't be happy with. We've got to take that into Wednesday night now. We've got that many attacking players on the pitch, there's going to be chances coming from every single angle."
