New Neighbours episodes come to Amazon Freevee - how to watch

Soap fans are delighted Neighbours is returning this month on little-known streaming platform Amazon Freevee - but what exactly is it and where can you get the app?

We've all endured a long wait for a new series of the popular Aussie show since it was axed by Channel 5 last year following 37 years on air. But classic episodes – featuring much-loved characters including Scott and Charlene Robinson and Madge and Harold Bishop - have been available to watch since February via channel Amazon Freevee, which took on the show’s entire back catalogue.

Fresh episodes of the daily drama are arriving from Monday, September 18, thanks to filming which began earlier this year. New shows will be released between Monday and Thursday in both the UK and North America.

The soap, which kick-started the careers of Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Margot Robbie and Guy Pearce, had the nation gripped by a huge wave of nostalgia when the 'final' episode was broadcast last year.

Jason Herbison, Neighbours’ executive producer, said: “All the cast and crew are incredibly excited that Ramsay Street will officially welcome viewers again to the neighbourhood on September 18 in the UK and Australia, and also be introduced to brand new audiences in the US and Canada when the new chapter of Neighbours is unveiled.”

What is Amazon Freevee?

Amazon Freevee is home to a number of exclusive shows and movies that you can't find anywhere else - such as the big name Bosch Legacy series, a follow-up to Bosch based on Michael Connelly's books. Other original content available on Freevee includes Judy Justice, which stars reality TV's Judge Judy, teen spy drama Alex Rider (which boasts an impressive 85 per cent Rotten Tomatoes score) and a documentary on pop superstar Post Malone.

Alongside these top original shows, there's a massive selection of movies such as classic horror The Blair Witch Project, the critically acclaimed Slow West (starring Michael Fassbender), and the family-friendly Angry Birds Movie 2. Other things to look out for on Freevee are hit comedies Parks and Recreation and 30 Rock.

How to get Amazon Freevee

Amazon Freevee is a free ad-supported video streaming service packed with a huge array of films and TV shows. But you will only be able to access them if you have an Amazon account.

Once signed up, you can then watch Amazon Freevee through your browser via the main Amazon website. If you have a Prime Video account you can also tune-in through its app, too.

If this doesn't appeal, there is also a standalone Freevee app which allows you to watch programmes through tablets, laptops, phones and other devices. Some smart TVs and games consoles, such as the Playstation 5, will also allow you to access Amazon Freevee.
