EastEnders fans 'rumble' Rocky's dark exit plot - and he 'won't be killed off'

EastEnders viewers believe they have rumbled the dark way in which Rocky Cotton will leave Walford, following fears he would die in tragic scenes.

Viewers have come up with a dark new theory that might see Rocky leave Albert Square alive. Actor Brian Conley recently confirmed he was leaving the role after nearly three years, with him set to bow out later this year it is believed. Brian hit back at claims his exit decision had sparked rows with bosses, as he teased his exciting exit storyline.

No details have been given away about it, but fans are not sure why he will leave new wife Kathy Beale unless he is forced to, or unless he is hiding something dark. Following recent scenes involving his ex-wife Jo Cotton demanding money from him, viewers believe she could be tied into his exit. One theory is that Rocky and Jo have been in cahoots all along, scamming Kathy for all of her money.

Another more sinister theory is that Rocky and Jo may be linked to the upcoming fire at Kathy's café after Jo promised she wasn't done with the pair. Fans are wondering if Rocky will intentionally cause the fire and end up having to flee or being sent to prison. Taking to Twitter, several viewers believed Rocky was either up to no good or would end up being sent to prison, and that this would be how he leaves.

One viewer said: "Ok so the husband has been sitting in the theory that Rocky has been in with Jo the whole time trying to swindle money from Kathy... is it too farfetched to consider that Rocky will run off with Jo and the rest of Kathy's money now we know he's leaving?" Another said: "Rocky and Jo off together after fleecing Kathy or in prison?" while a third wrote: "You're definitely going to prison, Rocky."

A fourth viewer theorised: "With Brian Conley teasing a 'Big exit' for Rocky - it looks likely he'll get framed for the Cafe fire which kills Karen who we know is also leaving. With the exit being permanent I can see Rocky going to prison for murder or arson," while another said: "I wonder if Rocky could start the Cafe fire - killing Karen and sending him to prison which could be his exit."

It was revealed last week that Rocky's exit has been in the pipeline for some time after Brian expressed his desire to leave the show. Writers have already planned and sorted the exit with it "set in stone". It's been hinted the storyline may have already been filmed, while this is not confirmed as an exit date is not known. Meanwhile, EastEnders addressed the reports about his exit, denying claims of a fallout.

They said: "We can confirm that Brian Conley will be leaving EastEnders. There is absolutely no truth in any claims of a feud with bosses and the show fully support Brian in his decision to leave which was made some time ago. We wish him the best of luck for the future as we continue to work towards his exit storyline which has been in the works for some time."

Taking to Instagram to release a video confirming his exit and denying he quit over "bitter arguments with bosses", Brian added: "Hello lovely people, it's me, Brian Conley AKA Rocky from EastEnders. Sending out this message, especially to all the EastEnders fans. Now, you may have heard reports that I'm leaving EastEnders and it was a tough decision but it is true... I am going.

"I made it for many reasons, this decision, and it's tough because they're such a wonderful crowd. In front of the cameras and behind the cameras, I've loved my three years there. So that's the truth in the reports! There's other parts of the reports saying that I 'clashed' with TV bosses and the crew. I didn't 'clash' with anyone, I didn't have a rant."

He went on: "I've gone with their [EastEnders'] blessings at the BBC, I'm excited about the future and where it's going to go. I'm also excited about Rocky's exit... as I know it's good! So I'm sending you much love, all the EastEnders fans, and yeah... enough said!"
