Halle Berry has slammed Drake after he used an unflattering photo of her to promote his new single alongside SZA.

The Hollywood star was left fuming after the chart-topping rapper opted to make the artwork for Slime You Out an image of her covered in gunk. The song dropped on Friday and was an immediate hit with Drake's fans but it didn't take long for Halle to upload a rather cryptic post on Instagram.

The post - a pink background with white writing - read: "Sometimes you have to be the bigger guy... even if you're a woman!" fans then rushed to comment on the upload with one asking Halle what she thought about Drake using the picture of her from the 2012 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards when she famously had green gunk dumped on her in her seat.

A close up shot of that moment is what Drake has chosen to use to promote the song on social media, with a separate image of a childlike drawing of a form of horned cattle with red eyes - drawn by a young fan for his album cover - used as the official audio artwork on streaming services. Halle's response to the question confirmed that the seemingly indirect post had a very definite person in mind.

She replied: "Didn't get my permission. That's not cool I thought better of him!" She then replied to a second follower adding: "Hence my post today. When people you admire disappoint you you have to be the bigger person and move on!" Halle made several other comments on the post regarding the issue including how it was "about principles and integrity. so happy many of you get that."

The lyrical content of the song itself has also raised eyebrows with some of her fans as it is graphic in nature and alludes to sex acts. Halle also discussed the topic with fans after one commented asking what it was "slime" was even referring to based on the wording to the rap track. Halle agreed: "Exactly! What does that mean?"

As yet Drake hasn't responded to any comments regarding the artwork, but it does see him in hot water for use of artwork for a second time recently. He was forced to pay out to Vogue in that instance after they sued him when he and 21 Savage promoted their album Her Loss using a fake vogue cover.
