Drug lord El Chapo's wife seen partying at club days after being freed from jail
The wife of notorious drug baron Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman was spotted partying only a matter of days after being let out of jail.
Emma Coronel Aispuro was released from a prison in California on Wednesday after serving a little over half of her three-year sentence. The mother-of-four was found guilty of drug trafficking and money laundering at the end of 2021. Yet just 48 hours after being granted freedom, Coronel Aispuro was seen enjoying herself on Friday in an LA nightclub. The event was arranged by her attorney, Mariel Colón Miró, at the Lynwood venue El Farallon.

While Ms Miró, 29, who is also a singer under the stage name La Abogada (which translates as “the attorney” in Spanish) performed a song for her client during the evening.
Coronel Aispuro was jailed in November 2021 over three federal counts concerning her role assisting the notorious Sinaloa drug cartel, a multibillion-dollar organisation which her husband ran. The charges included conspiracy to launder money, engagement in illicit financial dealings and distributing illegal drugs.

Coronel was having a good time (Instagram/@belleza.sinaloa___)She also admitted acting as a courier between Guzman, 66, and other cartel members while he was in Mexico's Altiplano prison following arrest in 2014. She then helped him escape the prison in an incident that gathered worldwide attention.
Her release was part of a plea deal with prosecutors and she had been moved from a Texas prison to a halfway house in Long Beach, California before being set free - she will now serve four years of supervised release. During her sentencing, Coronel Aispuro, who has dual US-Mexican citizenship, expressed regret for her involvement with Guzman and the cartel and any harm she may have caused.

(Instagram/@tvjoseluis)The judge said the sentence was reduced after she readily accepted responsibility for her actions and in addition to paying $1.5 million in fines to the US government from profits she made through the drug trade. Prosecutors said that Coronel Aispura was simply a "cog in a very large wheel," and the judge added that her arrest had little impact on Guzman's ongoing criminal enterprise.
During the trial, she expressed "true regret for any and all harm" she had caused and had also begged for a sentence that would allow her to watch her twin daughters who she had with El Chapo, both 11 or 12 now, grow up.

She and her family had been impoverished, and he had stepped in as a hero and helped out.
Prosecutors even admitted that she was simply a "cog in a very large wheel," and the judge also said that her arrest didn't result in a tremendous amount of damage to El Chapo's criminal enterprise, which is still in operation to this day. Many of its members have been sanctioned in various ways by the Biden administration for their involvement in the highly deadly fentanyl and methamphetamine trade in the US.
