PlayStation just held its first State of Play presentation since February, with a number of third-party title announcements like Resident Evil 4.

The PlayStation State of Play for September 2023 aired this week, featuring announcements from major third-party publishers like Square Enix, Bandai Namco, and Capcom, as well as a couple of announcements from Sony itself. One of the highlights of the show was the announcement that one of the best games of 2023 – Resident Evil 4 remake – will be getting the long-rumoured Separate Ways DLC.

The DLC, starring Ada Wong, tells the story of Resident Evil 4 from her perspective, so you'll be visiting familiar locations from the main game. Best of all, the DLC launches in less than a week, on Thursday, September 21.

The final – and biggest – thing from the show was a brand new Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth trailer. This new trailer was far more action-packed than the one shown during Summer Game Fest's Opening Showcase, giving us a closer look at the combat in the game as well as some of the side activities like riding a Segway.

We also got our first looks at some of the iconic Final Fantasy 7 characters who missed the Final Fantasy 7 Remake. We got our first look at Red XIII in combat (who was in the last game albeit not playable), as well as new playable characters Cait Sith, and – shockingly – Sephiroth himself. It was finished off with the announcement that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be launching on February 29, 2024.
