Michael Jackson would have turned 67 this week if he was still alive and years after the King of Pop's death in 2009, there's still lots of mystery shrouding the singing icon's life.
And much of the unknown surrounds MJ's relationship with his kids, as they were all quite young when he died. Michael shared son Prince, 26, and daughter Paris, 25, with ex-wife Debbie Rowe. and he then welcomed another son, who now goes by the name Bigi, via the help of a surrogate.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times in 2016, son Prince opened up about some of his dad's unusual tendencies. Prince explained why he and his siblings were made to wear masks to cover their identities as young children.
He said: "My dad spoke to me like an adult. He told us the reason for the masks was he wanted us to have our own life without him.
"I don't think I ever thought about if other kids lived like that when I was younger. But once I knew who he was, I realised it wasn’t normal."
Trump's awkward confession about Lisa Marie Presley & Michael Jackson's sex lifePrince also shared how he recognises his whole life has been "unconventional" but explained how he understood some of the parenting choices his dad made because he and his siblings were often able to go out without his dad and not be recognised. He attributed this to his dad's efforts at having kept their identities a secret.
He also touched on his future aspirations in the interview. Prince shared: "Music is a big part of my life. It shaped who I am because of my family, but I’ve always wanted to go into production and directing.”
Following the interview, Prince went on to graduate from Loyola Maramount University in 2019 with a degree in business administration.
In addition to his degree, Prince has also been heavily involved in charity work. He also co-founded the charity Heal Los Angeles, "which aims to improve the lives of young people in Los Angeles". A few years ago, in 2020 he said he thinks his dad would be "very proud" of all that he's achieved.
