How to connect a PS5 controller to your phone – wired

To connect your PS5 controller to your phone through a wired connection you will first need a compatible cable. The PS5 controller requires a USB-C input, and then the input required by your phone will be based on what device you have.

For example, gamers with iPhones will require a USB-C to Lightning cable to connect their PS5 controller to their phone. Those with a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 or sooner will need a USB-C to USB-C cable.

Follow the steps below to pair your PS5 controller with your phone:

  1. Make sure the player indicator on the PS5 controller is off. If the player indicator is on, press and hold the PS button until it turns off. If a USB is connected to the controller, disconnect it.
  2. While pressing and holding the create button, press and hold the PS button until the light bar blinks.
  3. Enable Bluetooth on your device, and then select the controller from the list of Bluetooth devices.
  4. When pairing is complete, the light bar blinks, and then the player indicator lights up.

And then you're set. A PS5 controller can be paired with only one device at a time. Each time you change devices, you must pair the controller with the new device.
