An expert has revealed some of the fascinating reasons you might be dreaming of babies, even if you're not feelings particularly broody yourself.

According to professional dream analyst Lauri Quinn Loewenberg, baby dreams may not represent an actual baby, but rather a project or achievement that's coming to fruition.

Therefore, such dreams could potentially be very positive indeed, signifying growth in your life, whether that be through education, your career, or a long-held dream.

Of course, as we all know, this sort of personal development can come with a lot of anxiety, and the type of baby dreams you've experienced could be very telling.

Dreaming of a sick baby

In an interview with The Cut, Loewenberg revealed that dreams about a sneezing or feverish baby could well point toward something that isn't going so well in your life, and that may need particular care. This could be anything from a difficult relationship to a project you've been struggling with at work.

A baby that won't stop crying

In a similar vein to the sick baby dream, Loewenberg says a crying baby could well represent a new element of your life that requires your focus or attention.

Finding an abandoned baby

Loewenberg explained that abandoned baby dreams could be your brain's way of reminding you to return to a project that you've neglected somewhere along the way.

Abandoning a baby

Mystic and writer Autumn Fourkiller told The Cut: "This, to me, signals that you are neglecting some facet of yourself, of your body, spirit, [...] Or that you've let yourself defer an important dream."

If you're having trouble figuring out exactly which part of yourself you've neglected, then Fourkiller recommends meditating or keeping regular notes in a dream journal.

A baby in the hospital

According to Loewenberg, dreaming of a baby in a hospital could point toward there being "something new in your life that needs healing".

This could be anything from an issue that needs addressing in the early days of a relationship or an idea that needs a bit more mulling over before you action it.

Dreaming that your children are babies again.

As per Loewenberg, this common dream could mean that you're still "babying" your children to some degree, and you might want to think about whether you're guilty of "helicopter parenting".

Dreaming of babies with teeth

Loewenberg said: "That is reflective of your desire to finally have this baby and finally communicate with it. Teeth in dreams are all about communication.

"If you get that dream and you're not pregnant, or trying to get pregnant, that would indicate you've given birth to a new way of communicating with someone. How are you communicating differently lately?"
