'I got up at dawn to go hunting for Prime drinks and it was so worth it'

The Prime Hydration craze has taken youngsters by storm, and many parents will know all too well the feeling of trailing around the shops for the highly coveted energy drinks., only to get there a bit too late every time. One dad has now written about his experiences of waking up at dawn to hunt for Prime drinks, following a bit of pestering from his 11-year-old son.

In an article written for YorkshireLive, reporter Andrew Robinson recalled how he rose before dawn on a Wednesday and headed over to a Spar in Huddersfield after receiving some 'intel' about an early morning delivery.

Although Andrew wasn't able to divulge the location - for fear of a 'stampede' - the tip-off did indeed prove to be accurate, with an enormous Spar lorry arriving just at the same time they did.

Andrew wrote: "It was still dark but the truck driver immediately clocked us as Prime candidates. He'd been pestered by his own son and was as bewildered by it all as me.

"He told me about the time he was mobbed in Preston. 'There were about 20 kids going absolutely mad. I think there was only one bottle'."

Unfortunately, while unloading the truck, the driver realised that, although he thought he did have some Prime onboard., he didn't have any for that particular store. He informed them his next stop would be at another Huddersfield Spar in about half an hour's time, enough time for the father and son to nip home for some breakfast first.

The determined pair encountered further obstacles at the next garage, where a petrol tanker was topping up the adjacent garage. Although the cones were out, they headed into the store, where the shopkeeper advised they could reserve two bottles for them.

After the Spar truck pulled up, they bought two bottles of Prime for £2.99 each. Although this was '£1 over the odds', Andrew figured this was 'no big deal', especially considering some of the prices Prime hunters are willing to pay.

Andrew, who couldn't quite believe they'd managed to pull it off, continued: "Honestly, I don't think I've seen a bigger smile on an 11-year-old lad in my life. 'It's like the Holy Grail', said my son in a quote that I swear is 100% genuine. 'Finally got some after all these years', he added. I think he meant months.

"I was granted a generous sip of Blue Raspberry when we got home. My reaction to what seemed to me to be a 'sickly sweet' beverage could be summed up by a little emoji of a person shrugging their shoulders. But the big smile on my son's face made it all worthwhile."
