Rebel Wilson has opened up on the heartache she felt prior to welcoming her first child via surrogate in November last year.
The Australian actress, 42, and partner Ramona Agruma became parents to baby Royce, but she has now revealed it wasn't her first surrogacy attempt.
Speaking candidly to The Pick Up with Britt, Laura and Mitch, the Pitch Perfect star revealed her first surrogacy sadly ended with a miscarriage.
Rebel told the hosts: "I tried with one surrogate to have the baby, and sadly the embryo miscarried."
Opening up on discussing her plans of motherhood with Ramona in the opening part of their relationship, she continued: "I'd only been dating Ramona for two months and I had to be like, 'By the way, the surrogate looks like it's out of the first trimester and it is serious and I am going to have a baby by the end of the year.'"
John Legend talks about sentimental family link to his newborn daughter's nameShe also described how she chose the sperm donor for her child, saying she was presented with pictures of potential donors as well as a look at their genetic history.
The donors had also left voice recordings at the "sperm shop", with Rebel admitting it was interesting to hear how each person had answered certain questions.
She continued: "I had like a sperm concierge, so they trawl through all the sperm shops and then give me the 10 best that match my criteria."
The chat came days after the actress revealed Ramona's family haven't been as accepting of their relationship as her loved ones have.
Speaking to Brittany Hockley and Laura Byrne on their Life Uncut podcast, she said: "My whole family has just been amazing."
However, she added: "Ramona's family hasn't been as accepting. And so in many respects, it has been a lot harder on her to have to make the news public.
"With her, she's not in the public eye, it's much harder on her. It's so sad to see what happened with her family over it. Hopefully, people will change their attitude about things."
Rebel came out as gay in a sweet Instagram post last June as she revealed her relationship status to the world.
In the upload, the actress shared a snap of the pair and wrote alongside two pink hearts and a rainbow: "I thought I was searching for a Disney Prince… but maybe what I really needed all this time was a Disney Princess #loveislove "
