Tim Allen has delighted fans as he announced his return to his beloved role of Buzz Lightyear for the upcoming fifth instalment in the Toy Story franchise.
The 69-year-old actor took to Twitter to share the happy news, as he posted a snap of the cartoon space ranger.
"See ya soon Woody, you are a sad strange little man and you have my pity. And off we go to a number 5! To infinity and beyond," Tim wrote alongside the picture.
The announcement comes after Tim was replaced in last year's Lightyear spinoff in which Chris Evans voiced the fan favourite character.
Tim's followers went wild for his announcement, with one person writing: "YOU MADE MY DAY!"

"Wonderful news! Thought it was finished and glad it isn't," penned another person, while someone else couldn't contain themselves and wrote: "I am so darn excited!!!!!!"
Referencing 2022's Lightyear, one fan said: "The REAL Buzz Lightyear is coming back! I’m so excited for all the amazing projects you are going to be apart of!"

"Today I'm so pleased to announce that we have sequels in the works from our animation studios to some of our most popular franchises, Toy Story, Frozen and Zootopia," he said.
Bob added: "We'll have more to share about these productions soon, but this is a great example of how we’re leaning into our unrivalled brands and franchises."
Information on the release dates has not been announced.
The original Toy Story was released in 1995, introducing children everywhere to Woody, Buzz Lightyear and their beloved pals.
Taking the premise of what if toys came to life, it was an instant hit and has remained popular over the last 28 years.
Toy Story has grossed over $191 million over its lifetime so it's no surprise that Disney wants to keep releasing the films, especially as most of the sequels have soared past the profits of the original.
