The Tesco Clubcard app is set to close completely in two weeks and shoppers are encouraged to download a revamped app that is replacing it.

The supermarket's current Clubcard app allows users to scan a digital version of their Tesco Clubcard in stores and keep track of their points and vouchers.

But from April 18, Tesco shoppers will no longer be able to use it.

Instead, Tesco shoppers will need to download the Tesco Grocery & Clubcard app, if they want to keep using a digital version of their Clubcard.

As well as being able to scan their digital Clubcard in stores, the revamped app allows shoppers to pay, view their points balance, spend Clubcard vouchers, order deliveries and check stock in stores.

Shoppers will still have access to their old points, coupons and vouchers on the new app, and for those who don’t download the new app, their points will be available on their online account.

So if you don't download the new app you won't lose them and you will still be able to collect your points using one of your physical Clubcards.

However, customers are advised to download the new app now to avoid being caught out later.

Anyone who hasn't signed up before can download the new app for free via Google Play and the App Store.

Tesco closed its Pay+ app on February 27.

More than 20 million people in the UK hold a Tesco Clubcard, which allows shoppers to receive discounts on selected items as well as rack up points they can redeem later as vouchers for use in-store.

Alongside this, Tesco shoppers can use their points to get money off when they spend with one of Tesco's Rewards Partners.

Tesco currently has over 100 Rewards Partners such as brands like Pizza Express, Legoland, Alton Towers, Cineworld and Hotels.com.

There have been several changes to the Clubcard scheme announced and many are to be introduced in the coming few months.

Tesco shoppers will get less money for their Clubcard points when redeemed with a Rewards Partner from June 14.

Shoppers will only double the value of their Clubcard points, rather than triple them as now.

Alongside this, Tesco will also be reducing the number of points you can get when you will up your car at its forecourts.

Currently, motorists are awarded one point for every £2 they spend on fuel.

However, from June 14 you'll collect one point for every two litres of fuel you buy instead of one point for every £2 you spend.
