Sarah Michelle Gellar was left emotional in an interview on Monday morning as she praised close friend Brendan Fraser while appearing on Good Morning Britain.
The Buffy the Vampire Slayer star sat down with ITV entertainment presenter Richard Arnold to discuss her new Paramount+ series Wolf Pack.
Sarah reflected on the similarities to her hit 90s vampire drama before the conversation turned to her friend Brendan, who is now nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor.
The 45-year-old actress became teary as she shared details from the night he won Best Actor at the 2023 Critics Choice Awards for his role in filmmaker Darren Aronofsky’s The Whale.
In the film, Brendan plays a reclusive man trying to repair his relationship with his estranged teenage daughter, played by Stranger Things star Sadie Sink.

The Buffy actress became teary as she shared details from Brendan's big night (ITV)The 54-year-old took home the best actor trophy for his performance and has been tipped for more success as the awards season rolls on.
An emotional Sarah said Brendan sent her a picture of his name card from the table at the event, instead of a snap of the award itself, explaining he was still so stunned just to be invited.
She said: "I could talk about Brendan Fraser all day long. He's had ups and downs."
She added: "He sent me this picture. You would think it would be him holding the award, but it wasn't - he was holding the card that had his name on it, because he still couldn't get over they wanted him."
Sarah has dubbed Brendan’s acclaimed return to the silver screen the ‘Brenaissance’, following years out of the spotlight and away from show business.

She penned: "You made us cry last night almost as much as you did in The Whale. And just know that you never need to leave breadcrumbs, because the Prinze family will always find you.”
The Buffy star’s reference to ‘breadcrumbs’ came after Brendan spoke of his time spent in the ‘wilderness’ and being in a ‘dark place’ while on stage at the ceremony.

“And I’m so lucky to have worked with an ensemble that is incredible. I was in the wilderness and probably should have left the trail of breadcrumbs.

“But you found me, and like all the best directors you merely just showed me where I needed to be," he added, directing his message to filmmaker Aronofsky.
