You might be wearing your turtleneck jumpers the 'wrong' way. Shocking, I know.

Many of us have learned all sorts of cool tricks lately thanks to the internet. Some are more helpful, like the knowledge you can make painkillers work faster by lying down. Others are less useful but fun, nonetheless. Humpty Dumpty is not an egg, it turns out. Go figure.

Well, fashion fans and turtleneck lovers listen up because there's another lesson to be learned: specifically, how you should wear your favourite jumpers.

If you like to roll the fabric outward, then you're free to carry on as you were before. However, you might be pleased to learn there's an alternative.

As fashion blogger @mary.orton points out, there's several benefits to rolling the fabric inwards.

In a video that has since racked up over 400,000 likes, she begins: "I hate to be the one to have to tell you this but you're probably wearing turtlenecks wrong."

Mary explains: "Instead of rolling the neck outward, roll it inside instead. This makes for a much cleaner neckline. Also, it gives you a cleaner canvas if you want to layer necklaces."

"A lot of turtlenecks develop this sort of warbled edge here," she adds, while demonstrating the popular trick. "Tucking it inside can make it look more expensive. You also have the flexibility of tucking it only a little bit if you want the neckline to land really high on your neck. Or you can tuck it really low, even doubling it inside so that it is more of a mock neck."

She quips: "Listen are you gonna die if you choose to fold your turtleneck outward? It's hard to say. I'm not a doctor. But I hope and believe that we saved some lives today."

In response, fans were quick to agree the tip is a game-changer, even if it's not life-saving in a literal sense. "Wow. Thank you," replied one shocked viewer. A second added: "Best turtleneck tips ever!" While another revealed: "My life is changed."

Someone else said: "Seriously concerned about the minute fact that I have literally never thought of this on my own accord." A different person replied: "I support this message!! I fold mine outward while I do my makeup and then inward when I'm done. The look is cleaner… literally." Meanwhile, a further commenter joked: "At 62, I feel my life has been saved just in the nick of time…or is that the 'neck' of time!"
