Easter, for many, is a time to devour Easter chocolate guilt-free - but do you reckon you could give a 5.4kg egg a whirl?
Even the biggest chocoholics in the world would struggle to devour the Betty's Cafe Tea Rooms egg thanks to its whopping size - and it also has an eye-watering price tag to match. The tearoom, based in Harrogate North Yorkshire, is selling the impressive offering for £375, making it the most expensive egg in the UK.
The luxury chocolate is made to order by the company, which is popular with celebrities such as comedian Jason Manford and TV star Giovanna Fletcher.
Dubbed 'Betty's Grande Easter Egg', the egg weighs a massive 5.4kg and is 55cm high. It also contains a humungous 31,104 calories, which works out 576 calories per 100g of chocolate. The egg is made from 'Grand Cru Swiss chocolate', which comes from 'prized Venezuelan criollo cocoa beans'.
The stunning egg has hand-piped stemmed flowers on the front of the egg, and they've been intricately placed by chocolatiers. If you're a fan of the gorgeous egg, though, you'll have to get ordering it ASAP, as the egg takes a recommended two-week lead time.
'I don't want children staying up late at weekends - I really need adult time'The description reads: "Celebrating the creativity and craft that makes Bettys unique, our handmade Grande Easter Egg continues a tradition stretching back more than a century when our founder Frederick Belmont designed eggs which were ornately embellished with hand-piped icing designs.
"Containing over five kilos of Grand Cru Swiss chocolate made from prized Venezuelan criollo cocoa beans, the Grande Easter Egg is a true work of art, showcasing the highest skills of our chocolatiers and cake decorators.
"Each Grande Easter Egg carries an array of delicate, individually crafted spring blooms and foliage including primroses, narcissi and pansies, with hand-piped stems as a final perfect touch."
For those who don't have a spare £375 to hand, the tea room offers an adorable smaller version - but it still comes with a rather large price tag of £38.50.
Someone said that they needed "one of each" of the glorious eggs, and another wrote: "I still want the Grande Easter Egg." "Absolutely beautiful", someone else said. Last year, Harrods sold a 1.7kg Easter Showstopper Peacock Feather Egg for £250.
